did that once, dude comes right up and backstabs me... had to go back and buy 99 more prism stones. They need to make it so that you can hold more, because 99% of the fun i had in the pvp of that game was going into people's worlds and deckin em out with prism stones. Did it in oolacile township for a looong time.

i was just a noob at dark souls till about last month now i have 1 question, why would you wear the mask of the father? isnt havels ring just as good?
User avatar #117 to #94 - Jesusnipples (02/28/2013) [-]
Some people like to leave that ring spot open for other buffs that you can't get from headgear, such as the Hornet Ring or the Wolf Ring.

I love dark Souls.
I even love how i have 2 pals who i play with in it, where we just summon each other and **** bosses up.
We are all on. My one friend is on playthrough 4, Im on my sixth and the other is on his 7th or 8th.

We are all lv 330+ and in range of each other. and it just makes the game that more badass.
User avatar #113 to #58 - redking (02/28/2013) [-]
what exactly is going on in this picture... lol
User avatar #72 to #58 - Kennyalways (02/28/2013) [-]
330+? Whats the level cap on that game?
User avatar #76 to #72 - lillpip (02/28/2013) [-]
470 something I think. I forget the exact limit.
User avatar #80 to #76 - redking (02/28/2013) [-]
714

Aaaaand I was way off :l
User avatar #86 to #85 - redking (02/28/2013) [-]
I just figure you are supposed to gain 100 levels per play through... and I believe there are 7...

So.... 714 at the end of NG+7
User avatar #106 to #86 - Pharonix (02/28/2013) [-]
nope.

Infinite playthroughs.
User avatar #108 to #106 - Pharonix (02/28/2013) [-]
actually I'm wrong

from the wiki
This continues all the way to "New Game Plus 7" (NG+++++++). After the eighth playthrough is completed, or seventh replay, the game will no longer increase in difficulty after it restarts.

but you can keep going.
User avatar #112 to #108 - redking (02/28/2013) [-]
So my statement stands... lol

Doesn't increase in difficulty so no need to gain levels besides high level PVP for whatever reason.
User avatar #95 to #80 - beatlestrainerwins (02/28/2013) [-]
actually the level cap varies slightly with each character where the sorcer's max level is 713, and i think a class like the warrior or pyromancer's max is 709

> Be in anor lando. Have lightning Zwiehander
> Invasion from nowhere.
> Full havels armour, guess i can take him
> bleed out from being hit 5 times with a curved sword
mfw all he did was use basic weak swings and my shield done nothing.
User avatar #23 to #20 - varrlegrimscythe (02/27/2013) [-]
That's why I have a ******** of blood-red moss clumps, add that with a high bleed resistance and you should be good when some fagdouche invades you.
User avatar #26 to #20 - redking (02/27/2013) [-]
Shield doesn't block bleed damage (makes total sense)

it makes sense balance wise... Dex builds would hardly be able to touch STR builds if not for this...
#109 - osirusrising (02/28/2013) [-]
The first time i went through Dark Souls i didn't know you could summon your friends and or a spirit to help you with bosses.

I started using a different set and playstyle for my PVP stuff, and I love the **** out of it.
I used to use Black knight armor set +5 and Child Mask with +5 Cursed Greatsword of Artorias and Grass Crest Shield +15, Ring of Favor and Protection, and Wolf Ring, but I switched from that yesterday to a lighter build of full Marvelous Chester set +2, Velka's Rapier +5, and Grass Crest Shield +15, Ring of Favor and Protection, Wolf Ring.
It's the closest to being unkillable in PVP I've ever come, in my opinion

is it bad if i dont care about pvp although i get invaded alot but my build is full giants armor +5 great scythe +15 Silver knight shield +5 havel's ring Ring of favor and protection?
User avatar #97 to #96 - Jesusnipples (02/28/2013) [-]
Hmm if you get invaded a lot and are losing stuff to invasions, then I'd recommend looking for a lighter build.
If you're getting invaded a lot but your build is working, then I'd say keep it.
User avatar #101 to #97 - beatlestrainerwins (02/28/2013) [-]
see the thing is i dont get invaded alot, but when i do its with guys that have max poise, least carry load, and darkwood grain, i cant win, my greatsycthe does ~550 dmg
User avatar #103 to #101 - Jesusnipples (02/28/2013) [-]
Then use a lighter build. Experiment with different armor sets/weapon combos until you find one you like
#30 to #24 - anon (02/27/2013) [-]
I use the paladin's armor + the greatsword of artorias with the mother's mask, the hornet ring and the ring of favor and protection. I kill people 2 vs 1 all the time. I win 90% of my fights.
User avatar #31 to #30 - Jesusnipples (02/27/2013) [-]
That sounds like a really ****** set, aside from the sword. I take it you spam backstabs, then?
#33 to #31 - anon (02/27/2013) [-]
By the way, it's actually a really good set for lightweight fighters.
User avatar #34 to #33 - Jesusnipples (02/27/2013) [-]
I've tried the paladin set before. Unless someone is trying to curse/bleed/poison you, there are much better sets to use. If you're looking for lightweight sets, a good one besides Chester's is the Pardoner set. It's very light and has excellent magic resistance, which is awesome for PVP.
I prefer the Chester set because it has the same effect on its wearer as the Hush spell, which makes surprise invasions easy.
#41 to #34 - anon (02/27/2013) [-]
Is the Pardoner set the black robes from Painted world of Ariamis?

.....I've never gotten a Chester's set, oh -.- I play PS3 and I don't have the expansion for it...so I can't use those armors yet :/
User avatar #40 to #37 - Jesusnipples (02/27/2013) [-]
Ah, I'm sorry. However, the Pardoner set is in The Painted World of Ariamis, and not in the expansion. Velka's Rapier is, too, which has an insanely useful moveset and does (for me, I use a +5 one) 226+ on a single hit, and it does slight damage and magic damage through shields of enemy players
#44 to #40 - anon (02/28/2013) [-]
Yeah, I have the Velka's Rapier, I switch off between that and when I'm in a pissed mood I use Ricard's rapier + the sunlight blade spell for backstabs.
User avatar #46 to #44 - Jesusnipples (02/28/2013) [-]
I don't have the Sunlight Blade thing but I have a +9 Ricard's Rapier, I prefer the Velka's Rapier though
#48 to #46 - Nickutodeath (02/28/2013) [-]
It's the equivalent to darkmoon blade if you've ever used it. It's just to make your weapon like 2x more powerful for a period of time. Like the ones that enchant your blade with fire.
User avatar #50 to #48 - Jesusnipples (02/28/2013) [-]
Yeah I use the Darkmoon one all the time
#52 to #50 - Nickutodeath (02/28/2013) [-]
Oh perfect, if you go inside that door that's usually blocked off, and kill the boss there. just keep going and you get that. But you lose the Darkmoon one, great for stacking if you beat the game though, cause you keep the Sunlight blade.
#55 to #52 - Nickutodeath (02/28/2013) [-]
Sorry, by keep going I mean walk to the end of the hallway.
User avatar #82 to #55 - Jesusnipples (02/28/2013) [-]
I'd kill him but I'm a Darkmoon Blade so I can't without leaving the covenant

I'm thinking about buying Dark Souls. I'm not a hardcore RPG fan though and I don't think I have the patience to keep dying over and over again.
User avatar #104 to #98 - smashingprodigy (02/28/2013) [-]
You learn to stay alive a little better and a little longer each time. Playing the game is a learning process. You can summon other online players to help you in case you are stuck.
User avatar #105 to #104 - mustlol (02/28/2013) [-]
None of my friends have or will buy it, they're sucked into Call of Duty.
User avatar #107 to #105 - smashingprodigy (02/28/2013) [-]
My friend got me to buy it. I was playing Demon's Souls at the time, but since he wanted me to play online with him, I went ahead and bought it. My other friend is too absorbed into Modern Warfare and Black Ops.

I recommend trying it before making your final decision. There's no headset support and it's not exactly meant to be played with friends, but it's still possible. It took us a few minutes before we were finally able to summon each other. We were using the phone to communicate. Even then, online strangers can still be a really great help.
User avatar #70 - spankyy (02/28/2013) [-]
Hey guys, so I've played Dark Souls to like level 7 or 8 or some **** (I got to the minotaur boss in the first castle area you go to after the starter zone). I played it on the PS3 at the time, but i'm considering buying the PC version (I much prefer PC to consoles, used it so long the other systems controls feel awkward, also my TV is **** ).

Is there anything I should know, or any tips to getting started? I'm probably going to go for mostly the PVE content, but may try the PVP content later on. Never been a big fan of RPG/MMO pvp, which is probably why I disliked GW2.
User avatar #74 to #70 - lillpip (02/28/2013) [-]
Go ahead and get the PC version if you want, but prepare to buy an adapter for an Xbox controller or PS3 controller. PC controls suck total dick.
User avatar #91 to #74 - spankyy (02/28/2013) [-]
I have both an Xbox 360 controller (which use USB plugs...) and a logitech game controller shaped like a PS3 controller. So i'm fine, and if I need to use a controller because I can't handle the pc controls, i'll switch to it.
User avatar #110 to #91 - lillpip (02/28/2013) [-]
Alright.
Uuuuh, one of the other things I reccomend is learning how to parry and riposte, since those will help immensely with black knights.
User avatar #114 to #110 - spankyy (02/28/2013) [-]
Alright, will do. Thanks man.
User avatar #78 to #70 - sketchE ONLINE (02/28/2013) [-]
if you dont want pvp never turn human or disconnect from the internet entirely they dont always give you a choice.

endurence is your friend. whether you play as a tank and use it so you can carry all your gear or a mage so you can block some of the heavier hits then run for your life.

pick a build that will scale with weapons and vise versa. a lot of powerful weapons dont scale at all so find ones that do. the uchigatana you can get from killing the undead merchant scales nicely.

if you chose to kill an npc make sure you will never need them again. also know the consequences if you do. there are three firekeepers that if killed will turn off the local bonfire which is all bad

be patient. rushing into a group of enemies when you can use the longbow to pick them off results in a lot of deaths. also the dodge window is small. too soon and theyll adjust mid swing and hit you.
#90 to #70 - anon (02/28/2013) [-]
Watch epicnamebro channel on youtube. Dude helped me a lot. Also get the PC fix (most downloaded mod there, trust me it's almost obligatory) on nexusmods...because the port is pure **** .
User avatar #92 to #90 - spankyy (02/28/2013) [-]
Alright, i'll check him out, and i'm assuming it's like the unofficial skyrim/oblivion patch? Modders made a patch that fixes a lot of **** kind of thing going on.
