Mine caught on at 3 years old when she realized what she was doing with the controller didn't make a difference. Now, at 8, I just play something she can play with me. It's fun to help her build her house in Minecraft, or to dodge her zombies In ZombiU.

My nephew (4) and oldest niece (7) both caught on at 3 years old too. I usually play Tekken with them, and I'll be frank, they taught me that sometimes button mashing works. My younger niece is two and remains oblivious that she's using a Playstation 1 controller.

you sound like a great father from just reading this

Thank you. I try. My dad left when I was 2, and I always swore I'd be there for my kids. So when she wants to do what I'm doing, I'll just pick something age appropriate. She was a master of NES Super Mario Bros before she was 5.

Yes but I doubt it'll be fun to help her beat down hookers in GTA...just saying, some things you should only play when kids are out of the room. Then again hooker-bashing could be a life lesson.

I dunno, I played GTA 4 when I was 9 and I though beating down hookers was great fun?

Whatever makes them happy and gets you some quite time. As a kid that had that done to me and now a father that does that, it's the best trick ever.

Haha! I used to do the same thing with my little brother, I'd tell him he was playing as one of the npcs or enemies.

Am I the only one that has never gotten this to work? The children would mash buttons, realize it was making no difference, and tell me it was unplugged.

i remember being at movie theaters with good ol galaxa/packman sitting there, when it promoed the glaxa tidbit you could actually control the ship without inserting a quarter for a little bit. then after like 30s the ship goes kamikaze and stays in the middle while a bomb drops down at it.

Yeah, my two year old nephew figured out his controller wasn't working in about five minutes. Now it's useless to even try, he checks everything before even attempting to play. Oh and he only wants to play games that are single player so we can't even play.

And that Majora's Mask was best, because of its unique writing and ability to actually effect other people's lives. And you get to be a giant during a boss battle.

I haven't beaten Majora's Mask yet, but I can conclude that it is epic so far.... and that the freakin' fish in the great bay temple evokes a lot of rage
