He is like Tom Cruise and Nicolas Cage, it's always clear that he is acting.

Nicolas Cage hasn't won any since 1995. I also found that quite shocking.

I liked his role in Kick-Ass, The Weather men, Lord of War and Family Man.

While I understand that he wasn't a match towards Colin Firth (2010 best male actor)

I do think he should at least be nominated for the Best male actor in 2005 (Lord of War and Weather Man)
mostly because in my opinion Philip Seymour Hoffman, David Strathairn and Terrence Howard hadn't any chance compared to him. (I did like Joaquin Phoenix and Heath Ledger though)

With the movie Family men he never would have a chance to beat off Russell Crowe with Gladiator. so i give you that.

I liked him in Lord of War as well, but he wasn't oscar good

He was awesome in Adaptation in 2002. He played two different people and got a ton of award nominations, for both characters in some cases.

I think Christoph Waltz was amazing in Django, but I truly don't understand why DiCaprio wasn't nominated.

When Quentin Tarantino was up there, he said: "But Leo couldn't make it." I thought to myself: "Good man, **** the Oscars, keep making great movies."

Pic related, probably my favorite role of his

Excellent movie, but I've always love his performance in Blood Diamond. The amount of time and work he put in to developing the speech (both accent and manner) showed real devotion. Not to mention the acting itself.
#66 to #60 - Yojimbo (02/26/2013) [-]
I agree, another great one. Shutter Island may be my favorite, but i think his BEST acting was in The Aviator

What do you mean "even Anne" won something? Did you see Le Mis? She was spectacular. No one else deserved supporting actress.
User avatar #55 to #19 - aldheim (02/26/2013) [-]
All she did was cry for ten minutes then die.

and she was ********** by some captain.
but srsly when she was singing I dreamed a dream I wanted to punch her in the face...the close up was just ridiculous...
User avatar #75 to #55 - tangiers (02/27/2013) [-]
Wow. You guys should just go see Live Free or Die Hard, might be more up your intellectual alley.
User avatar #76 to #75 - aldheim (02/27/2013) [-]
Because I don't think that an actor who played a character of minimal substance and importance to the plot deserves an award, I'm an idiot?

It's a ******* outrage that he didn't win an oscar for his performance in Djange Unchained.
#73 to #50 - anon (02/26/2013) [-]
Well, the question is, what would he win?
Jamie Foxx was the main actor and Christopher Waltz was supporting, so there isn't an oscar left for him
User avatar #59 to #50 - foelkera (02/26/2013) [-]
I'm almost certain that the only reason he didn't win one is because he played a plantation owner. You can tell that society's ruined when political correctness cancels out realism and skill.
User avatar #61 to #59 - beepboopbingslam (02/26/2013) [-]
I completely agree! It's stupid, the man actually sliced his hand open when he smashed that glass, like legitimately sliced his hand open AND carried on acting as well as he did! OUTRAGE I TELL YOU!

I have.
User avatar #81 to #79 - tdhd (02/27/2013) [-]
Then surely you were disappointed with how long it took to tell so little of the story, a decidedly average film
User avatar #82 to #81 - ultimoz (02/27/2013) [-]
I loved the book, i think it's brilliant that they spread it out so widely. If they did it with the lord of the rings they could have made a whole film about the scouring of the shire chapter.
Sure, Radagast and Azog weren't in the book but they were both brilliant in the film.
User avatar #83 to #82 - tdhd (02/27/2013) [-]
I disagree - I hated Radagast; their scenes were far too long.
