You realize we weren't Americans yet, right? We were still English settlers.

Nice try :)

They kind of did use terror tactics, you know, wiping out villages, raping, pillaging, poisoning, destroying food sources, you know, general war time stuff

Its funny because the native americans did all those things too. But too each other.

yep just look at what the Lakota did to the Cheyenne tribes in the 1770's and they treat the land they call sacred like ****

They did make trading agreements with whitey in exchange for their fancy boomsticks which were then used to massacre other tribes they didn't like. Just saying if you want to play the innocent victim card, every culture has committed their fair share of atrocities.

That's a typical invasion, terrorism is completely different

Terrorism is using militiant force to further political means.

America did exactly that. "wiping out villages, raping, pillaging, poisoning, destroying food sources" to further the settlement. A political goal. By definition America were terrorists.

And furthermore, America remains a terrorist country to this day. Waacing its big dick around frightening middle eastern countries for no just cause.

That's not terrorism, that's just plain old politics, no matter where you go lol

"a person who terrorizes or frightens others."
Pretty sure the invaders terrorized and frightened the Natives.

Almost anything involving war causes terror. The true definition of terrorism is using fear as the weapon as opposed to causing fear as a result of war.

The whole "we're the real terrorists" argument is ******** . Ethics aside, we don't achieve our goals with terror, we achieve them with military might. If we defeat a country we do so by defeating their military.

Whether or not you agree with them, the natives operate as terrorists. They would attempt to make whites leave their land by raiding and mutilating settlers to deter them from settling further.

And as for the, "We're the real terrorists" argument, I strongly believe this to be true.

Fear as result of war. The problem here is that you are extremely vague as to what fear as a weapon means. As fear cannot be used to stab or burn someone, but it can certainly be used to make a populous act in a certain way., both as a result of war and not.
US has used assassination, has used threats, has killed innocent people, has mutilated people. They do all these things yet it is not terrorism because it is wartime? Then by that logic, the native tribes that raided settlers were not terrorists because it too was war.
I do respect your opinion, however much I disagree, and am not making an attempt to instigate a ********* . This is simply my own observation, you can do with it what you like.
User avatar #52 to #28 - rhetoricalfunny ONLINE (02/26/2013) [-]
Natives didn't kill and murder settlers. They weren't those big bad indians you saw in the movies. There were in fact VERY few tribes that took militant opposition towards settlement. (Yet they gave them one hell of a time, which is certainly something to consider when you realize there was a council of many tribes that decided against war, though they had the numbers to wage one.)

Native people are by all means victims, even to this day. I recommend looking into it further as there is not enough correct information to be gained by a simple FJ ********* . It is a very multilayered problem, but there is not a single doubt that they are victims.

I always saw it as: A person or group who uses fear as a weapon to further goals not supported by the majority population. That's what I see a terrorist as.

scalping was a terror tactic. so was war paint. and raiding settlements.i suppose you can make the argument this was done to further the cause of removing whites
User avatar #23 to #21 - Crusader (02/26/2013) [-]
Scalping was started by white people.
There were bounties on natives and you had to bring a scalp back in order to get paid, natives did it back as revenge.

I am guessing it means intentionally.
