Yah I mean it's not like we have anything at all similar in place already.
And it's not like removing the penny won't cause a **** storm of it's own or anything.

Do you not realize the absolute lack of privacy that would exist if we went to an all electronic system?

I was just thinking about this yesterday. Everything you buy would be track-able and the information could be stored and collected. I feel that humans need the feeling that they have privacy in the things they do to function well in a society. I believe that as you take away humans' freedom to commit all wrongs (for example, putting speed regulators on all cars so that speeding is impossible), and freedom to privacy, you'll create mental illness among the population and generations of irresponsible adults.

It resolves more problems than it causes.
Its essentially the same system was have now, where most people opt to use credit or debit cards over cash.
It wouldn't be easy obviously, but it solves so many problems that the resources needed to hammer out the details would be much lower than the problems that paper money creates.

Why don't you actually spend 2 minutes to come up with a real argument instead of saying "herp, derp, u r wrong" that is, assuming you have the capability to say anything besides "no", and "good night".

a 1 cent coin is however, needed. if you get a dividend on 1.56, or you pay 1.99 for something, what are you gonna get in return?

Canada got rid of its penny, now we just round things to the nearest nickel. up or down. it hasn't quite been a month yet, but it seems to be working out alright so far.

the military doesn't use the penny either, they round their paychecks up to the nearest nickel, the same can be done with sales

if they got rid of pennys you wouldnt pay 1.99 you would pay 1.95 so you would get a nickel instead of a penny. you dont need pennys. and nickels also cost more than they are worth so you might as well ban them too. meaning you pay 1.90 bam you just saved 9 cents that you wouldnt have before

or you would pay $2, they arent gonna make things cheaper because of an absence of a coin, no, theyll be greedy and charge you more.

no. its a marketing thing, they make more money if they sell things for 1.90 than for 2$ because people by more thinking there is a noticable difference and the money gets made back by the company. thats why they dont already just sell things for 2$ as opposed to 1.99. also in other countries prices have not risen at all.

Tell that to Canada who just retired their 1 cent coin. When you lose money minting it then what's the point of using it? Round every price to end with a 5 or 0 and even with taxes included all totals will be divisible by 5 (aka the nickel).

It's not hard.

you cant use pennys or nickels in vending machines and the math has been done to prove that the amount of time we spend messing with small coins like pennys and nickels costs us money that we could be making doing something else. there really isnt a logical argument to keep them

there is if you use money to buy things other than things from vending machines, like for me, i use cash where i go, just me and the the person selling me the goods, here are some reciepts i paid in cash

992.23 Euro-land rover fender parts,
Brush Gaurd and spray paint 585,69
a reciept from Media Markt for 223.49

yea, im not rounding up and losing another cent. a penny saved is a penny earned. call me what you will, i make jokes about me being a capitalist pig, but when you dont make too much, every cent counts. i dont care how much it cost to manufacture it, make it smaller or something, it needs to be there as an equalizer.
