I've been to Detroit. I have no idea what all the fuss is about. Between Chicago, Detroit, and NYC, I'd say Detroit feels safer than the other two.

<how the Internet feels about Detroit

I hate it when that happens. At least you got an alert for something you can relate to though (living in Detroit). All I ever get are alerts from artists (who aren't any good).

And I live a few hours outside of Detroit. Nice to make your acquaintance.

were you Downtown or in the Ghetto? Downtown isn't too bad of a place, but the ghetto, Scary as ****
User avatar #194 to #188 - critique (02/26/2013) [-]
any ghetto can be scary as **** . if you wander far enough from the center of NYC you'll wish you'd stayed in Times Square.
User avatar #199 to #194 - xxnovey (02/26/2013) [-]
Eh, Manhattan is actually safe, I wander around at night all the time by myself away from Time Square and nothing ever happens. There are police and security guards practically on every block who are more than happy to walk you somewhere if you feel uncomfortable. *shrug*

Thanks to its long line democrat politicians.

Now tell me how I'm wrong and you're right.

Most of Detroit's problem is the fact it was a very industrial city producing a lot of the goods after WW2 which were getting sent to war-torn Europe. When basically all the European economies recovered, a lot of jobs were lost. And to top it off because of the free trade agreement between US and Canadia which included Mexico in the 90's, which a lot of the auto industry sent a lot of the manufacturer to cheaper Mexico.
A lot of democrat politicans haven't realy help much either, but people like to bring up welfare being the cause, when welfare couldn't have been this deadly

Fun Fact: If it wasn't for a democrat politician, the general motors would've went bankrupt.
#175 to #163 - secondlawprevails (02/26/2013) [-]
Oh god, here goes an internet argument. Actually General motors wanted to file for restructuring. Obama stepped in because restructuring would have cut a **** load of union contracts that were basically just draining cash from GM since their jobs had been replace by robots, since most union members vote democrat. Therefor, the government stepping in was a political move to keep union voters happy.
TL;DR Obama stepped in to make sure useless union employees were kept on board and to delay half life 3 another decade.

I somewhat agree with you but there are always 2 sides of the story, in my opinion bailing out GM is a good idea for economic reasons.

MASTER FORD RACE would have bought them up for super cheap and prospered. Capitalism would succeed once again
