I hate it when there's a feminist christian, because in the bible it sounds like men are always superior, I don't think people should choose what they like about that religion and what they don't like and then only follow what you do like.

So, you don't think that people should have their own beliefs? They should just pick from the mainstream religions that already exist and follow one exactly?

I don't think they should choose mainstream beliefs, as you say, what i'm saying is i don't think when you have a religion you go through its (demands? checklist?) and only follow half of the religion.

The whole idea is to follow what you believe in. So if you believe in some of the religion's ideas and not others, then you are just following what you believe, instead of conforming. As long as someone follows the fundamental beliefs of a religion, they are part of that religion.

Would you prefer it if all religious people were fundamentalists?

In general, we like people that are commited to their beliefs, not hypocrites or half inked (NOT being this a justification for VIOLENCE, I know what you would be saying next).
Therefore, someone that bases all their beliefs in a book, and then takes out or re-reads parts of it to make it fit to what is convinient to him/her... well, he/she doesn't respect a bit of respect.

"we like people that are commited to their beliefs"
Those are their beliefs. Not all Christians take everything in the Bible literally. Some of them believe the Old Testament is obsolete, some of them think virtually everything is some sort of fable or parable, and some even think the Bible is fallible (but still believe in God and in the divinity of Christ).
On the other hand, some Christians believe in a lot of things that aren't in the Bible but have nevertheless been integrated into their religion.

There's more to religion than the holy book.
