Go watch an interview with Adele or Bruno Mars, they're some of the most down to earth musicians out there.
User avatar #372 to #47 - spysappinmysasha (02/23/2013) [-]
yeah well Bruno Mars is more of a "Been caught with Cocaine" kind of artist in all actuality.
User avatar #491 to #47 - cocorosie (02/23/2013) [-]
Adele? Down to earth? She's one of the most pretentious people to ever disgrace the music industry.

... and? I might be a down-to-earth economist and yet no one has ever respected me for it. Quite the opposite, I'd say that their candidness might merely be an argument for me not to disrespect them.
User avatar #118 to #116 - nippuhl (02/22/2013) [-]
I'm not saying this to the public, this message is more to the people complaining in the comments and on the internet.

Fair comment, but nevertheless, I wouldn't ever consider anyone venerable based on earnestness.

I don't hate any of them. I hate their music, but I'm not gonna hate people I've never even met.

Who I do tend to hate however, are people that won't shut the **** up about it. (you know who you are faggots.)
User avatar #20 - happytoaster (02/22/2013) [-]
they all suck execpt for Adele and Bruno Mars, i do alot of ukulele covers of his songs
User avatar #8 - thetick (02/22/2013) [-]
I think Bruno Mars doesn't belong on this list. I dont enjoy his style of music, but he's not a douche.
#53 to #8 - Rascal (02/22/2013) [-]
Bruno Mars is exactly the same you may prefer his music but his just trying to sell music and make money more than making actual music.

proof :
2011 : Snoop Dogg &Wiz Khalifa - Young, Wild & Free (Feat. Bruno Mars)
2011 : Lil Wayne - Mirror (Feat. Bruno Mars)

User avatar #232 to #53 - squadmissile (02/23/2013) [-]
Yeah and i bet you will come back next year saying that Frank Ocean is **** because every artist from here to Pakistan wants to to get him on their song, you know like Bruno mars was 2 years ago. You're mad at him for selling his music!? Take your thick rimmed glasses off you ******* hipster.

Jesus ******* Christ i bet you only chose those songs for the artists he collaborated with, but Mirror is probably Lil Wayne's best song and Wiz Khalifa was decent on his as well, Snoop Dogg was **** though and has been for the past 5 years. Go listen to the songs instead of copy and pasting off of Wikipedia.

I'm not his biggest fan but i'm not in his client base of single 16-30 women, but Jesus anon, you are a right cuntbucket.

Bruno Mars just as bad as all these singers. Grenade and the lazy song were possibly the worst songs of the year
User avatar #102 to #82 - ZenMacros ONLINE (02/22/2013) [-]
I don't care for most of his songs, and I did hate the lazy song. But I think his newest song, "When I Was Your Man" is pretty good.
#182 to #82 - Visual ONLINE (02/22/2013) [-]
You can tell that those songs were painfully made by publishers because they got so famous, but his newer stuff isn't as widely broadcasted and it's not bad. Sure it doesn't fit my taste, but it's more enjoyable than Grenade and the Lazy Song.

Bruno may have sold out badly on those two songs but I think any of us would do that when offered ridiculous amounts of money to make a ****** song for ****** people.
User avatar #92 to #82 - thetick (02/22/2013) [-]
I dont enjoy his music. I just think he's an okay dude while the rest seem douchey on top of being creators of ****** music. He hosted SNL and did a great job. The pandora skit alone made me like him.
#11 to #8 - Rascal (02/22/2013) [-]

Not that i am a huge fan of her music, I respect lady gaga for being a true musician. She wrote her own songs and worked her way through the music industry as a songwriter and a producer to get to where she is now, instead of merely being discovered and handed her career on a golden plate like Justin Bieber and One Direction were.

Also Adele seems like a respectable person.

I'm so sick of this "Respect is earned not given" ******** . How does it make sense to go through life with no respect for anyone until they do something awesome to earn it (In this case "awesome" meaning making music that I like). The type of people I have no respect for is those who don't how to respect others. And who gives a **** about your respect anyway? As if everything I do in life should be to earn your respect. Also, what the **** type of person bases their respect for others on musical taste/talent. I don't like Justin's music, but I still acknowledge he a ******* person and deserves the same respect as everyone else.

Why is it that rock fans, especially classic rock, are the only people that shove their musical tastes down everyone's throat? I don't see fans of pop music going "IF YOU DON'T LIKE WHAT I LIKE YOU'RE A PIECE OF **** /AN IDIOT".
User avatar #404 to #389 - cormy (02/23/2013) [-]
Multiple possible reasons.
1. The know that rock is good.
2. They're too close-minded to look anywhere past their pop music world. (This one has many extensions to it)
3. Because there aren't any real pop classics that they actually really care about that much, they all lose interest in them after a year and move on to the next new thing.
User avatar #417 to #404 - leglesslegolegolas (02/23/2013) [-]
People still listen to a lot of pop songs from the 80s. They just don't realize it's pop.
User avatar #424 to #417 - cormy (02/23/2013) [-]
I'm thinking 90s maybe, mostly because of the internet, with Haddaway and whatnot.
What from the 80s do people listen to? and by people I mean the 17 year olds and under that are all over the current pop stuff.

Cyndi Lauper - Good Enough
Duran Duran - Hungry Like the Wolf
Lipps Inc - Funkytown
That's the three I hear the most.
User avatar #441 to #428 - cormy (02/23/2013) [-]
I don't hear any of those. Anywhere lol
Played Funkytown in school band about 6 years ago, I know Hungry like the wolf is in a DDR game I own, Never gonna give you up is in rick rolls but other than that... I don't hear them.
Never heard Good Enough and I can't say I'm fond of the song either

Because a lot of these people are 12 and like bands you're "supposed" to like while hatting musicians that you're "supposed" to hate. We all had this phase but some people never outgrow it
#433 - Yojimbo (02/23/2013) [-]
I may not like their music, but at least a few if not all of these people have donated to charity and helped people. Respect earned. So come off your high horse and tell me what YOU have done to earn respect?

Except this fails miserably when no one respects each other and doesn't think they need to learn each other's respect. It's one of the main causes of gang violence and social tension in the inner city.

Welcome to Funnyjunk.

If something is labelled as even close to pop, it will be hated by everyone because forming your own opinion won't make you popular amongst the fellow neckbeards.

I don't know. Something about her lyrics just gives me a bad feeling about what kind of person she is. I'm not gonna judge since I don't really know much about her though.
