Honestly, I don't even look at the desktop when I start using a computer. I immediately move my mouse down to the taskbar. I would immediately notice it would be right side up, and I'd figure it out. Most people would, honestly. I prefer just pressing ctrl+alt+arrow to make it turned, that REALLY ***** with people since most don't know how to undo a real orientation change.
#56 to #55 - Hightower (02/22/2013) [-]
The task bar wouldn't pop up from the bottom though, it would be hidden at the top.
User avatar #57 to #56 - Fgner (02/22/2013) [-]
I'd still notice the mouse moved the right way. Then I would scroll the edges until it popped up. Admit it, it's really not as clever in practice as it seems in theory.
#58 to #57 - Hightower (02/22/2013) [-]
But it is. I did it to my office staff last April 1st. Half of them couldn't figure out what was up or down.
With the screen inverted the mouse movements would be inverted as well.
User avatar #59 to #58 - Fgner (02/22/2013) [-]
And I've done it as well, and not a damn person fell for it.

However, when I switched all the computers in the computer lab to 90^ and 180^ rotations, only two people could manage to put their computers back to normal, the rest just sat there... infuriated by the mouse not moving the right way, by not knowing how to even fix what was happening.

That's exactly what I said to do... Maybe you should read my post again...

You can also just turn desktop icons off, you don't have to delete them all
User avatar #29 to #24 - billyludwick (02/22/2013) [-]
simpler option than just deleting the shortcuts is to right click empty area of desktop, click view, then uncheck the "show desktop icons" option.

(I am unsure if this isn't possible on any OS's)
#34 to #24 - Rascal (02/22/2013) [-]
Or just do it with one single icon. Then they will test the others and when the work they will wonder wtf is up with that single one.

I remember when I was younger I set my mouse icon to the hourglass loading symbol. It took me two days to figure out how stupid of a decision that had been.

Seriously, why are these so popular all of a sudden? i'm not really complaining because they are kinda funny, but they just popped up out of the blue

But I guess that is the way of the internet, these will have their run, everyone will get burnt out on them, and they'll die a slow and painful death
User avatar #49 to #45 - nattyicesixtynine (02/22/2013) [-]
thats the way of funnyjunk

> Get on a friend's computer.
> One by one, replace each application and folder with a shortcut.
> Make sure to use the exact same icons and placing.
> Type "shutdown -s -t 00" into every shortcut's directory.
> Laugh as each and every program and folder turns your friend's computer off instantly.
