Aaaaah welcome to my life FJ. I am a survey instrument technician. Every mother ****** that walks by while I'm shooting topo asks if I am going to take their ******* picture. That stopped being funny after the first 500 times i herd it. I even get dumb bitches duck facing at me all ******* day. I fixed the photo to show it from my perspective.

How about good guy survey instrument technician who does it for the kids even though anyone else asks and it pisses him off?

he's tricking the kids into thinking it's a camera, when it's not.

basically giving them false hope for his own enjoyment.

That device is used by construction workers to measure elevation, angles, distances. It works somewhat like a scope just an eye piece, doesn't take pictures, record videos etc..
#30 to #15 - nissn (02/21/2013) [-]
it's not exactly like a scope. that model in the picture is sending a laser to a prism (that somebody else is holding) that reflect the laser back. and then the computer will calculate the distance, gradian etc from the known point you started from.

we are using the same type at my school

This is a great idea. I'm going to take the EDM to my local park and start "surveying" for chicks and start asking if they mind having a photo taken for science. What could go wrong?

User avatar #64 to #54 - ScaredWhiteBoy (02/21/2013) [-]
That instrument is a total station not a dumpy level. It actually measures angles and distances. It checks elevations also, but by calculating its distance and vertacle angle.

To all the people below talking about what that thing is in the picture: That's not a transit, its a total station. Transits are rarely used these days. This is a transit.

That one level in the snowy mountains will always **** with my mind... I once managed to get the workers to get burried in snow by the snowplow and then never again.

hi, you must be 15.

these devices have been around for allot longer then google maps. they are used to measure land mass for plotting a construction site or generating more accurate maps.

Hi, you must be another butt hurt anon

obviously i was mistaking because i never knew how or what these things really did until today. So I don't quite understand how that makes me a 15 year old because if someone like you gets overly "butt hurt" about one little thing/mistake that you feel the need to comment and "try" to make me feel like a dumb ass but clearly you failed sir. All I, as a human being , am sorry about your frustration so please don't assume that you are the only mature (by age) mother ****** on the internet because clearly you are not my friend.

It's for surveying. Remember that geometry **** you did in school and you were all like "when will we EVER use this"? They sight a line between points and calculate out all the angles to accurately measure the land in preparation for construction.

I actually work as an Electronic specialist on these things..

God damn the problems I have with them, but they have great optics and I spend quite a good amount of time scanning the neighbours houses, muahahah
