You're assuming that time is a strict progression from cause to effect ( A causes B --> B causes C --> ...).

Doctor Who's sense of time travel is full of the most nonsensical and ******** things.
They pretty much make up **** without a true explanation. It's pretty much just... exactly what that picture is below.

But that doesn't change the fact that the show is all kinds of kick ass.
