I actually tilted the screen to get the glare off of the card. I feel like an idiot.

No need for a girl like her when I got Obelisk the Tormentor, Slifer the Executive Producer and Mega Ultra Chicken.

You need a girl that can play.

If I'm seeing those titles correctly, which are gold-lettered, those are fakes. The real God Cards had rainbow/crystal lettering. You'll end up like Odion for playing a fake Mega-Ultra Chicken.

They look real to me

This is what the lettering should look like on real ones:

They don't look like that if they're Ultra Rare, my Winged Dragon of Ra has that lettering and it's secret rare, Slifer and Obelisk are Ultra rare and is different.
They don't have the little "This card can't be used in a battle" it says in Japanese instead

These are the rules I've usually gone by when looking for real and fake God Cards.

Sadly Ebay seems to be a bit outdated. What says on the Ebay page is true, but they have forgotten to update it. Ultra Rares were made after Secret Rares, so any card that didn't have silver letters in that time were fake. But after some time they produced Ultra rares that had Gold letters.

Collector's Cache had a big case on that not long ago :)

Huh... I had always been told the ones with gold lettering were fake, so I never bought them. I had a collection of the three rainbow-lettered ones. My bad then.

I read more into the eBay one, it's an update under saying:
The cards are Ultra rare, Gold lettered and holographic just like the original GB1 set.

That makes it a bit harder to spot fakes, doesn't it?
User avatar #259 to #258 - knitey (02/21/2013) [-]
Certainly does, but the main rules are no SR will have gold letters and no UR will have rainbow letters. Also the fakes will be made of cheaper material and the people who makes them are usually too stupid to make good looking copies.

I just went with the Rainbow-lettered versions. That way I knew they were "legitimate", at least I hoped so. :P
