Alright, so here's something that's going to seem foreign to some of you younger people. In 1996 I was 16. We had an internet cafe down the street from where I worked. It was 20.00 an hour for internet, dial up slow ****** internet that we though was amazing. Slow 33kb speeds.

When ICQ started, I picked up an account in the low 100's, aka one of the first instant chat messaging accounts. A few weeks later there were people from everywhere on it. I was in a chat room and someone from Ireland was in there. We had a reasonable conversation, nothing mean, nothing rude. The guy sitting next to me said "This is cool as **** but this fad will fade soon"

In 1997 my then girlfriend (now wife of almost 16 years) and I moved into our first home. We got internet for the first time and it was such a big deal, our new neighbors came over and "ohhhh ahhhd" and the marvel before them. We were the first in that neighborhood to have internet and paid a giant 45.00 a month. Worth it, I could read the news and chat with people in foreign places and... nothing else.

Oh, here's another fun one. We bought a Pionex computer off QVC with our tax money. in 98 I think. My wife didn't want it with windows 98 because we were use to windows 3.1. Specs? Found them luckily.

Intel Pentium II
64MB RAM
6.4 GB hard drive
56K voice modem
3.5" floppy disk drive.

Found the pic on QVC or some **** , not my pic. same computer, I bought it on QVC. One very last thing. I remember the first time I seen profanity in a chat room. It was on Yahoo and some guy called another guy "cock sucker" and I about **** . Because **** like that didn't happen online. Profanity, on the internet?!?! Unheard of. Chat rooms didn't have rooms full of people trying to be more of a **** than the last.

tl;dr= kids today, **** . +I'm old.

Another thing not unique to the 90's. I spent most of my life before the age of 10 playing that game. While I was born in the 90's I can't really be considered a 90's kid because I only spent 5 years of my life in the 90's and don't remember it at all. There are things unique to the 90's. Pinball is not.

since im in peru without internet i would have never played HL2,EP1 AND 2, MINECRAFT, DON'T STARVE, TF2,DEAD ISLAND,THEY BLEED PIXELS, SUPER MEAT BOY, PORTAL 1 AND 2 (and the list goes on and on), because here these games come in packages and cost 5 or 7 times more timed depending of the price PLUS 1 dollar here is 3 times our local coin
User avatar #114 to #112 - Nameloc (02/20/2013) [-]
Yeah, but isn't currency easier to access there?
Like in Denmark a soda is like 16 DKK, while here a soda is 2 USD.
My Danish friend gets payed about 800 DKK per paycheck and I get about 150 USD per paycheck; About the same price, really.

Explain these Packages to me please. (I'm curious.)

also i exagerated a little on the first comment :P

2 words: shipping cost, and since the dollar is 3 times our local coin ,well, imagine the shipping cost is 22 dollars, well we have to pay 3 times that, we pay 66 "soles"(S/.) plus the price of the game ( imagine its 7 or 6 dollars) we have to pay 87 or 84 "soles" for a 7or 6 dollar non virtual game (disc), for the virtual game (buying it with steam) i just pay S/.21 or S/.18
a soda here (a cheap one) is S/.1.20 ,expensive ones (normally coca-cola or pepsi) are S/.2.00, in a can however (i just don't know why) they are S/.3.50
also the "package" was an error, i was confusing spanish words with english ones XD
User avatar #152 to #134 - Nameloc (02/21/2013) [-]
Ah.
I see. That's gotta be a bitch, though....
Then again I know that feel..

If I were to send a Package TO Germany (from Virginia) it'd cost $80...
If someone in Germany were to send a package TO Wisconsin it'd cost $40 or $50. (Costs like 30 euros. Granted that Wisconsin is in the middle of the US and Virginia is closer being on the east-most side.)
