I don't get this, the pictures are there to tell you something, like the ones where they're back to back: The characters trust each other, the two are usually a relationship but they are also against each other. Take Bride wars for instance, two close friends who then go against each other for some bridal related **** .
The ones where they have there back to the screen: is even easier, you've got V, Batman, Blade, Rorschach. Characters with mystery, no one knows the real them. Even if the viewer does/ you find out later.
