The Never Ending Road
In Corona, California there once was a road known by most locals as the Never Ending Road
Specifically, the roads true name was Lester Read. Now. over twenty years later, the
landscape of Corona has changed, and the Never Ending Road is no more However, years
ago.. Lester Road was an unlit road that people claimed became a never ending road when
driven at night. The people who made such a drive were never seen from again.
The legend became so that people refused to even drive Lester Road during the
day. the night. like many teens my age, I drove up Lester Road. but only a short distance, and
in my headlights it did look like it went on forever. Frightened, I quickly turned around, because
it I continued up the road, I thought I might never return again.
Perpetuation of the legend convinced local law enforcement to investigate. Lester Road took a
sharp left turn at its end, and there were no guard rails. Beyond the curve lay a canyon, and on
the other side ofthe canyon was another road that lined up so well with Lester Road that when
viewed from the correct angle. especially at night, the canyon vanished from sight, and the
road seemed to continue on up and overhue hill on the other side of the canyon. Upon
investigation of the canyon, dozens of cars were found, fallen to their doom, with the
decomposing bodies of the victims still strapped to their seats.

And no one ever thought to investigate during the day before then?

And this could have been solved so easily.

maybe the road was designed to get rid of stupid kids, "oh look a road that no one returns from, full speed ahead!"

-sigh- Let me tell you why this is ******** .

-I live in Corona, specifically in one of the relatively few houses that were built on what used to be Lester. Yes, I live here.
-It hasn't been called Lester in forever. It was changed to Rimpau quite a long time ago, around the time I was born.
-It's not some creepy-ass backwoods road. It holds two high schools, one of which I graduated from, and basically mostly businesses (I'm seriously one of like a dozen houses on Rimpau).
-It's not an impressive road. It's about, oh I dunno, 4-5 miles long. At its south end, the top of the hill, it turns into Upper, and at the north end, the bottom of the hill, it ends at Quarry Street, just below Sixth and right outside of Grand, aka the crown that gave us our name. I go up the hill to friend's houses all the time, and down the hill to the Metrolink Station (I take the train to my college, Cal State Fullerton).
-There is no ******* canyon anywhere near us. Not big enough to crash cars on.
-Yes, Lester used to go on forever into orange groves, but the last time it was called Lester, the internet wasn't even a thing.
-I've lived on Rimpau for 16 years and I have never once heard it called "the never ending road." That's just ******** .

tl;dr: I live on Lester. It's not Lester anymore, it's Rimpau, and this post is ******** . But holy **** , seeing my ******* street on FJ frontpage is scary.

You mean after dozens of people disappeared on an extremely poorly constructed piece of road the police decided "Wait a ******* minute here, I think those missing persons cases were true" called in the FBI and went to the cliff and figured it out. Pretty fine work I can imagine them thinking back to their greatest case when they go to bust a drug dealer and yell "OPEN THE DOOR, GET ON THE FLOOR, EVERYBODY WALK THE DINOSAUR"

the people that built the road
"anon put a guard rail at the edge of the canyon!!"
10 years later
"you had one job!!!!"
User avatar #117 - cazabrow (02/18/2013) [-]
so you're saying not just one - but multiple dozens of cars fell into the canyon just off the side of the road and it took a full on police investigation just to notice their existance?

"Many people never return from driving on this road"
.
.
.
"The road makes a sharp turn next to a cliff."

WHY DID NO ONE CHECK THE CLIFF FOR BODIES?!?!
User avatar #60 to #59 - guidoforlife (02/18/2013) [-]
yeah, like why didn't they check a day or two after the person's came up missing? I'm pretty sure its standard procedure that when looking for a missing person, you follow their last known route. and for some reason, something tells me police would gravitate towards an unlit road with no barriers right next to a cliff...
#34 - anonymous (02/17/2013) [-]
alright well that's just crappy planning. "Hey Steve this looks kind of dangerous. should we put in a guard rail?" "nah It'll be fine."
