yeah how dare he make a comment about his opinion whilst simultaneously avoiding stereotypical prejudice by allowing us enough information to understand his personal mindframe

His religious affiliation has nothing to do with the content. So yes, stating that he was a christian was contradictory to his statement, and no it didn't offer anything in regards to his point of view.

actually it does. if he didn't point out that he was a christian, many people would believe he was an athiest who was making fun of christians. he didn't want people to wrongly accuse him of slandering those with whom he shares similar beliefs.

And it wasn't contradictory, he was simply mentioning it. it would be contradictory if he said "I'm a christian, but i think christianity is incorrect"

so yeah

take that

Please, I've nearly given up, but i need a tolerant christian who can perhaps make me more tolerant to christians by trying to make me understand. Please, i must know how people can be religious

If you're being sincere, feel free to send me a PM and we can talk about it if you really want to learn about this stuff.

Good. It may be provocative and annoying, but i want to know what's going on in a persons mind when they hear it and actually get a goddahm answer

I'm religious too, but not over the top. I just find it interesting to learn about everyones beliefs.

People who deny due criticism only wish to live looking like they know what they're doing, and die not knowing a thing.

...

They're both idiots. Earthquakes can't change the earth's orbit. There needs to be interaction with another object. If there didn't need to be interaction with other objects, then probes would never use things lik ion engines and would instead just use some sort of pendulum effect to swing their way into different orbits.

That said, there are many other effects that would take us out of the BS "habitable zone," as there are many interactions with many other objects. A few of those meteors might do it.

The earthquake in Japan caused the earth to shift on its axis slightly.

A massive earthquake could potentially cause enough momentum to cause a shift of at least ten feet in relative space. We're not talking a hundred miles here.
