not playing at all, spent like 40 minutes trying to learn how to tie it after watching 3 youtube videos..... finally got it right after like the 5th try. not too easy, but looks pretty nice once you get it down right.

I use the four in hand.
User avatar #43 - jimimij (02/16/2013) [-]
And yet the final product always looks the same
User avatar #48 to #43 - rebby (02/16/2013) [-]
yeah but people who can tell the difference can tell how much you care about your appearance. if you do a more complicated knot people would be more likely to think you care more
User avatar #68 to #48 - jimimij (02/16/2013) [-]
I am definitely not on that level. I dont think I've ever even worn a tie... just realized that.
User avatar #75 to #68 - rebby (02/16/2013) [-]
i dont know what kind of knot i use but its a really simple one.
but i also almost never wear a tie so i dont need to tie one often.
#49 to #43 - verby (02/16/2013) [-]
You can pretty easily tell the difference between a full and half windsor
#44 to #43 - herbalremedy (02/16/2013) [-]
the knots have slightly diff shapes and sizes...lets people judge you on the small things....gif would be better if he was holding a tie...but it works for my point lol

I personally prefer the half-Windsor. Who else?
#8 to #1 - namhcrocs (02/15/2013) [-]
I was taught the full windsor so I use that lol
User avatar #14 to #1 - trollchildxy (02/15/2013) [-]
Well, you use the half-windsor for certain shirts and a full windsor for other types of shirts. Because they have different "girths" on the knot itself, if you have a tight shrit and your tie knot is bursting out it looks kinda gay, so use the half-windsor in that case. Etc Etc.

I personally use the Four in Hand because its easy to remember and looks decent with most anything. Only true gentlemen would be able to tell the differences at a formal occasion, and lets face it, im in america and gentlemen are illegal here.
#10 to #1 - anon (02/15/2013) [-]
Lol, I thought the "four in hand' WAS the Half-Windsor. X)
User avatar #67 - WindblownRebel (02/16/2013) [-]
I use the double-windsor knot. It works well when you need to go to court and look professional. :P
User avatar #69 to #67 - ugottanked (02/16/2013) [-]
i dont know much about tying a tie...think i should start learning xD

and hi :3
User avatar #70 to #69 - WindblownRebel (02/16/2013) [-]
I was so good at it that I could blindfold myself and still finish the knot in under 30 seconds. o-o

User avatar #71 to #70 - ugottanked (02/16/2013) [-]
but i mean, i dont see too much of a difference between the different kind of knots

(howve ya been?)
User avatar #72 to #71 - WindblownRebel (02/16/2013) [-]
If you see them irl you'll notice a big difference. It also depends on what length of tie you have. ^^

I've been... not really well. But surviving.
User avatar #73 to #72 - ugottanked (02/16/2013) [-]
ah, maybe i should just learn how to tie a tie first xD ill give it a shot

and sorry to hear your not doing too well, but also glad your survivin
User avatar #74 to #73 - WindblownRebel (02/16/2013) [-]
Well, start somewhere easy and work your way up. Or tackle a challenging one for your first try and impress yourself.

Well, it's better than nothing I suppose..
User avatar #77 to #74 - ugottanked (02/16/2013) [-]

User avatar #76 to #74 - ugottanked (02/16/2013) [-]
mhm, ill give it a shot

that is true, anyways i dont think ive asked, but are you a reader?
User avatar #78 to #76 - WindblownRebel (02/16/2013) [-]
I read often, yes. ^^
User avatar #79 to #78 - ugottanked (02/16/2013) [-]
what are some of your favorite books?
User avatar #80 to #79 - WindblownRebel (02/16/2013) [-]
Erm, well starting from when I was young...
The Hardy Boys series, The Black Stallion books, Harry Potter, The Phantom Tollbooth, Ella Enchanted, Fairest, Night World series, Sisters of Isis, Daughters of the Moon, The Sword of Truth series, Clan of the Cave bear series, and god knows how many more. :P
User avatar #81 to #80 - ugottanked (02/16/2013) [-]
hmm, im just going to assume that those are all very good, and that i should give em a try

if you want a series that i found intruiging, try the Dark Tower series, and if you want something very dark, try Full Dark, No Stars (both Stephen Kings works)

that's, I think, the joke
User avatar #62 - Zeigh (02/16/2013) [-]
And yet the end result is the same for each. I never understood the necessity for a tie, it serves no functional purpose and it feels like a very weak man is trying to choke you all day (yes Mitch Hedburg).
If I were to guess, I'd say it were some relic from the Victorian era.
