I love how most of the people bitching at OP for not driving manual probably can't even drive yet.

>Bashing OP for not having a manual trans.
>Most possibly drive an automatic civic or equivalent.

Very mature FJ.

I drive manual and I don't care, anyone can drive what they wan't. but im sayin' though, this would not have happened if he was driving manual.

I learned to drive stick a week ago, and I am never going back to being a filthy automatic peasant.

Well his day would have went a lot worse if this had happened in a manual.
#7 to #6 - iBlitalian (02/12/2013) [-]
Not really, with the type of automatic he has, he cannot shift into gear without pressing the button, if it was a manual it would just be slightly annoying having to use the bottom portion of the gear shift to change gears.
User avatar #19 to #7 - swatlowkey (02/13/2013) [-]
actually of focuses theres a shift lock so he could still shift.
#51 to #19 - anon (02/13/2013) [-]
and in a manual you could just screw the gear stick/knob back on..

Those of you bitching at Op for not driving a Manual, Good luck finding a Car you like -That's not sport oriented or a cylinder Civic- that's a Manual. Hell I wish my truck was a ******* Automatic at times, A Manual on the Column is annoying as hell. Manual's are only fun in Car's or on Motorcycles though on a Bike shifting is reversed and easy, in everything else they're WORK unless it's a Diesel with an Allison tranny, those are interesting just because of the little to no clutch required.

left and up, dummy.
see the R?
User avatar #24 to #22 - Omegashenron (02/13/2013) [-]
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh lol I thought it was a P at first now I see. I must be losing my vision lol. Plus my reverse is below 5 gear.
User avatar #25 to #24 - tonytails (02/13/2013) [-]
oh god... id hate to think i was hitting 6th gear and end up throwing it into reverse at 80 mph...
User avatar #35 to #25 - Sinless (02/13/2013) [-]
You don't have to vvorry about that. 6 speeds usually require you to put it into neutral first, then push dovvn on the shifter before going to reverse.
User avatar #36 to #35 - tonytails (02/13/2013) [-]
thats the way my dads 99 new beetle is, but its still left and forward.
User avatar #26 to #25 - Omegashenron (02/13/2013) [-]
lol I know but it's okay cause it's what I learned manual on. PLus I don't even have a 6t gear since I have a ******* 91 accord lol but it was cheap as **** and gets great gas mileage.
#34 to #26 - samaroo (02/13/2013) [-]
How did you think that was a P? Manuals don't have a gear for Park... I am calling ******** on you driving a manual.
#38 to #34 - Omegashenron (02/13/2013) [-]
Okay. I know you're right but i have no experience driving manuals other than mine. If I could prove it i would but i dont really care. MY car also doesnt even have a 6th gear. Instead it looks more like this except less chrome and more stinky vinyl crap lol. I literally just started learning manual about 3 weeks ago.
User avatar #27 to #26 - tonytails (02/13/2013) [-]
i drive a ******* 62 volkswagen beetle.
i dont need a 5th or 6th gear. i cant go faster than 80 mph.
User avatar #28 to #27 - Omegashenron (02/13/2013) [-]
lol Haha you have me beat there. I would actually like that just because I love volkswagens but that sucks Im not sure of my top speed but i have hit 80 quite a few times
User avatar #29 to #28 - tonytails (02/13/2013) [-]
my car shakes and rattles at 60. i refuse to take it to the highway.
#57 to #29 - anon (02/13/2013) [-]
you might have worn or unbalanced tires, worn bearings, worn out transmission and/or differential, and just a simple unbalaced drive shaft/ worn CV joints.
User avatar #58 to #57 - tonytails (02/13/2013) [-]
i know my car like the back of my own hand.
and yes, my tires are unbalanced as **** , and my transmission is borked.
User avatar #32 to #29 - Omegashenron (02/13/2013) [-]
lol I dont blame you since I believe mine is an antique technically i can only imagine what a 62 bettle is.

Please spare me for my ignorance (I don't drive. Manuel or automatic) Why is there no four? Or is that the position it is in in the picture, and it's just not labeled.

4?
its right there...

some friends of mine pranked our car one day. part of it was they took the shift knob off the stick. my brother (we share a car) had to drive all the way home without the ball, and only found it after we arrived.
it was kind of dumb actually...

ITT: Neckbeards who say driving manual is better when half of them probably have never gotten behind the wheel of a 5 speed.
#56 to #53 - anon (02/13/2013) [-]
most in small cars are 5 speeds.
User avatar #62 to #53 - redvus (02/13/2013) [-]
I drive a 5 speed ranger and I agree manuals are a lot better then autos. Better HP, and better MPG. But it takes a lot of attention to detail. and driving a 5 speed in heavy traffic sucks. So with anything its has pros and cons.
#68 to #53 - WHATTHEPISSTRAINE (02/13/2013) [-]
Manuals do tend to be better, I've never owned anything clutch free, 97 honda shadow vt1100
04 chevy cavvy (5 spd m) (totaled), and 86 f150 5.0 4 on the floor. THOUGH, new dual clutch automatics are surpassing manual equals in Efficiency and performance THOUGH they have a small issue with burning clutches in traffic. Pic related current semi daily driver
