Two dots were added, then six theories were made.

2 x 6 = 12

Afterwards, two more dots were added, and five theories were proven wrong.

12 - 2 = 10
10 / 5 = 2

Finally, one theory was proven to be most likely.

2 + 1 = 3

Halt it right there!

You may know or may not know, but Gabe Newell has in fact confirmed a brand new engine in the late stages of development AND that ''Ricochet 2'' being in development too.

Ricochet 2 in this case, being code for Half-Life 3.

But anon, we must, because there are known knowns and that there are known unknowns. But there are also unknown unknowns; things we don't know that we don't know.

I feel like it would be a little closer to the circle rather than a pentagon. It would be hollow as well.

I'll use the theory of evolution as an example.
We've got a fairly accurate understanding of how evolution works (fairly=extremely) so we understand the whole process. However, evolutionary links are still being discovered to this day. I think the outline of the circle should represent how well we understand a theory and the inside to represent the details of theory. My diagram looks something like this.

We're discovering more and more molecules everyday (implying whats inside the circle is fluid). Your drawing to the left is a little inaccurate, because I'm fairly positive we haven't found half of all the missing links there are. I changed it to make it a little more accurate.

Every single living thing that has ever existed on Earth is a "missing link".

I fully agree that that's an accurate portrayal of how much knowledge we have of everything to the finest detail about evolution, but I was more or less referring to the broad definition of the Theory of Evolution.

So then I guess there are two theories of evolution? The broad one which is a belief, that you described, and then the evidence pointing to that being true, which I described. Sometimes it's hard to tell which one people are referring to

When I say evolution, I don't refer to the micro-evolution of individual molecules. It isn't so much two different definitions, rather, two different aspects to the same theory.

Yeah absolutely, sometimes people refer to the aspect of belief when they say evolution and sometimes they refer to the evidence found. I heard someone say that the theory of evolution is as much a theory as is the theory of relativity, and both are equally true. But evolution is a belief with little solid evidence, which we have already established. Would you agree to that?

Not at all. Massive amounts of evidence exist to support evolution. The fossil record and genetics being key aspects of the evidence. I took the liberty of looking up a nice, trustworthy source to explain these aspects. Smithsonian seemed pretty good.

Interesting, I'll have a look. I'm a christian by the way, I firmly believe in God, but i find that talking to my christian peers gets me absolutely nowhere because they're already as firmly biased as I am. I only really discover things when people actually question what I'm thinking.

That's incorrect the truth is actually more like a bubble bath from a objective and non linear point of view. well it isn't and it is. wellll it's actually nothing like a bubble bath. But if that works for you the truth is a bubble bath.
