while this is true, have you accounted for the volume of the hammer? im pretty sure youd only feel a little pull on something of that size rite?

weight =/= mass

Mass has gravitational pull.
Weight is caused by gravitational pull, and in reality is of course governed by mass, but I suppose magic would all be to do with controlling forces, hence a spell could be placed on it that increased it's weight (downwards force, nothing to do with it's own gravitational forces) to match that of whatever someone "unworthy" was applying to it, so that it would never cause damage to a surface it was on when someone strong tried to pick it up, but people would still never be able to move it.

That's how I'd have done it.
It factors out all problems I can think of with these other explanations.
But oh well.

Wow, this just got me thinking. Maybe Thor's hammer isn't a real thing at all?
User avatar #8 to #3 - asasqw ONLINE (02/12/2013) [-]
From what I hear it is actually not that heavy. Just it weighs that much due to an enchantment put on it so no one but the worthy can wield it.

ifanboy.com/articles/top-5-poseurs-who-have-wielded-thors-hammer/

Here's a list of people who have lifted it besides Thor and why they could lift it
#54 to #8 - anon (02/12/2013) [-]
it's not the worthy,Hulk,Iron Man,Captain America are all good people (which is what Thor needed to become to be able to hold Mjolnir) yet they werent able to hold the hammer, that probably means that you have to be something more than worthy (meaning:Thor/Odin)
User avatar #72 to #54 - angelious (02/12/2013) [-]
captain atom actually lifted the hammer.

and you just need to be "worthy" to wield it.

beta ray bill is another one who was able to wield mjolnir.
User avatar #66 to #54 - KillinTime (02/12/2013) [-]
Someone look this up for me but from what I remember both Superman and the hulk have actually used Thor's hammer on occasion, and the other heroes probably could as well if they wanted to.
User avatar #74 to #66 - angelious (02/12/2013) [-]
superman is not part of marvel universe.

but considering it only weighs(supposedly) around 50 million tons when lifted.it would be easy for superman (who even post crisis can lift over 6 sextillion tons) to lift it...
#136 to #74 - anon (02/13/2013) [-]
crossovers happen
User avatar #138 to #136 - angelious (02/13/2013) [-]
yes i recall there being a crossover...i heared thor fought superman and lost.but did he lift the hammer in that fight that i do not know.thou if he tried to lift it im sure he would have succeeded.considering he is most certainly worthy and even if he isnt he has enough muscles to lift it anyway
#58 to #54 - hylebus (02/12/2013) [-]
Worthy doesn't actually have to mean good, E.G. Odin's dad, Bor, was able to wield Mjölnir, but he isn't exactly good person. Also FYI, Captain America was able to wield Mjölnir.

Legend says it's made of iron by two dwarfs in the underworld and was handed to Thor a red bearded god with lightning in his eyes and a voice like thunder.
In the Marvel universe it's made of neutron-star matter and belongs to a alien with blond hair and a cape.
User avatar #107 to #105 - crazylance (02/12/2013) [-]
As a side note, I believe one of the dwarves was named "Brock of the big head"
#109 to #107 - taroshik (02/12/2013) [-]
Their names were Eitre (also called Sindri) and Brokkr :) they were 2 ;) and they were also refered to as "Sons of Ivaldi" (The smith who made Odins spear)

But Mjölnir was indeed made of iron! :)
User avatar #110 to #109 - crazylance (02/12/2013) [-]
isn't Odin's spear named Gungnir ?

So, in the heart of a dying High-Mass star, the pressure is so great that it actually forces electrons and protons together creating Gamma radiation and Neutronium or the nicknamed Element Zero...
> excess radiation
> radioactivity
> half - lives
> there is an E in "lives"
> E=mc2
> Discovered by Einstein
> Einstein was a Physicist
> Gordon freeman was a Physicist
> Gordon Uses a Crowbar
> Crowbars are used in construction
> construction workers have lower life expediencies
> roughly half
>mention of Element Zero earlier
> made popular by Mass Effect
>Mass Effect had 3 installments
