The sound level in the room is -9 decibels. The walls, floor and ceiling absorb all sound, rather than reflecting it, as most surfaces do. It's so quiet that you become aware of even the slightest sound including the sound of your heart beating, stomach, lungs and ears. In fact, the sensation is so intense -- including the possibility of hallucinations -- that no one has been able to stay in the room longer than 45 minutes.

Do they keep the creepy faceless torso in the room? I imagine that contributed a little to the short time spent inside.

Not 100% sure, but I think it's for binaural recording.

Have you ever tried to sleep in COMPLETE silence?
You start to hear that whining noise, then after a while, you start to hear voices in that whining. I recommend you try it some time, but when you're not alone.
User avatar #634 to #5 - mcmanybucks (02/10/2013) [-]
u know that feeling of thoughts rushing trough your head as u try to sleep? try that while ur imagination is boosted by the sound of no sound mixed with the sound of every intestine in ur body,.

I sleep with a fan because I can't stand silence when I sleep.
#352 to #253 - yomommabinshoppin (02/07/2013) [-]
I was starting to think I was insane, I have that fan going all throughout the night for the past 7 years
User avatar #395 to #352 - garymotherfinoak (02/07/2013) [-]
a lot of people want white noises when they sleep (a low quiet constant noise that prevents silence)
#398 to #395 - yomommabinshoppin (02/07/2013) [-]
But it makes me question, why don't I like silence? What causes me to be so fearful that it has caused me to drown out my surroundings? What is my true reasoning behind this, Why can I never find answers to so many of my questions?
User avatar #400 to #398 - garymotherfinoak (02/07/2013) [-]
the fear of hearing something unknown in the night or simply thee tense feeling pure silence produces.
