Everyone said I had ADHD so they put me on medication.

Side effects included loss of appetite, chest pains, and stunted growth.

Now I'm 16 and only 5' 7" weighing in at 116 lbs.

Thanks psychiatrists, you really ******* helped me.

Though the joke is funny, it just reminds me of my dad because he doesn't believe people are "insane" or that mental issue are real because, "back in his day" it was just being sad or a spaz. And how nowadays, some people still don't believe most forms of mental illness are real.

Granted, I hate people who scream "OCD!" or "ADHD!" when they don't have it but still. . .

That's why you're nothing but a dying old white man hehehe. Those old days were bigoted and WASP centric; the dark ages, remember.

It's okay though Mr. Old Dying white man, we will give you all those social security benefits for being our dupe, along with the rest of the, "greatest generation."

I was considered ADHD for a while. Since then i started talking to an actual Psychiatrist and Psychologist. Turns out it's PTSD with depression! Woo!

Honestly it's done me a world of good just figuring things out, no medications or anything!

Was diagnosed with ADD my junior year of high school. Medicated all through high school, and last week I had to stop taking it because when I get really stressed now it causes anxiety attacks.

i recently got diagnosed as "adhd". all i told my doctor was i have a hard time concentrating and staying awake in school, and i frequently get up and leave the class for a minute cuz i cant stand sitting for long periods of time. not abnormal in the least! but boom baby take these pills!! granted, they are awesome, the whole everyone has a mental disorder these days is getting out of control.

eh. sort of like people with ADD. I have been taking Concerta for my ADD since like 1st grade I think. It helped alot but I didnt notice it....my teachers and my friends did. I have also been in counseling for it since 5th grade. I did not really start to become aware of it's actual effects until like junior year of high school. I would start to think of some of the things that I would typically do off of my pill and then on my pill and that's when it clicked in my head. When I was on my day wear I forgot my pill I would think alright just take it easy and pay attention. I'd start to day dream or get off task and I would notice and click back to what's at hand and it was basically like I was on my pill. I still take my pill just for good measure though being a freshmen in college.

Moral of the story is all this **** on ADD is soooo blown out of proportion. Sure, when the person is a child they won't give 2 ***** or try to control it so medication is the only other solution. When you get to a certain age you need to take responsibility and get off of the dependency of the meds. It's not as serious as everyone makes it. You can control it on your own....you just have to give a **** and want to make a change.

There wasn't as many "behavioral disorders" because kids would get smacked if they were bad. Nowadays kids run rouge around the city without an adult to tell them to not be an asswipe.

I have clinical depression...

My father doesn't think that's a real thing, he just thinks I want to be miserable so I have an excuse not to do things...

ADD is the dumbest **** I ever heard of. It's not a real thing and is the most over diagnosed thing. If a kid wont sit still and pay attention, hit that kid. He'd sit still and focus, I guarantee it. I think teachers should still be able to hit their students. Those assholes in class would not be such disruptions if they knew the teacher would hit them hard with a ruler. They'd sit the **** down and shut the **** up. This country, America, is getting too damn soft.

Even during the 90's people would just call you over-dramatic.
While I know there are SOME people with issues, there are wwaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too many "internet diagnoses' and false diagnoses of illnesses.

I challenge you to try and find a teenage girl who doesn't claim to currently have or claim to have HAD insomnia/depression/bipolar disorder/some sort of schizophrenia or multiple personality disorder.
User avatar #13 to #10 - sheepysquirrel (02/06/2013) [-]
A friend of mine claimed to have adhd and then described it as "If you don't like something, you can't pay attention to it" and I just sat there dumbfounded for a minute before laughing.

Seriously, peoples traits are being diagnosed as disorders. It's stupid.
