internet explorer in a nutshell

A lot of people think "Oh well chrome is the best browser" and I agree

However, I wanna clarify something. People say its fast. And I feel like it is. The reason it seems faster is because it uses more of your computers memory to make it run faster. It loads webpages and images as fast as your internet connection, not waiting for RAM to back it up.

The webpages on chrome also look smoother. A lot smoother when you scroll. The reason for this is that chrome will pull from your computers video adapter in order to smooth out the page, again, using more resources.

So in the end, for a slower computer, firefox is probably a better bet. Chrome is better for people with decent PCs and up.

Another thing I wanna say that why I prefer chrome over firefox is the fact that most of Chromes web coding is pulled from IE. And since most people have IE, or used to a few years ago, most webpages are coded in IE. You don't need to worry about tags not working

There are tags in Firefox that do not work in IE and vice versa. I.E. the <image title="'> tag only works in firefox, and IE has a different tag for it all together.

Chrome runs off of the same tags that IE uses, thus allowing webpages to load correctly

That's how I feel about it

Actually, the main reason that Chrome is so much faster is that they didn't load it down with all that bloat crap the others did. They made it more customizable...if you don't want a flash player embedded, you don't have to have one. If you don't want a java platform...don't add it. Customization is the key!

Erm maybe you're right, but my computer is **** and it is soooo much slower using IE than chrome. Going on the internet is actually bearable using chrome compared to long ass waiting times on IE, so tbh I don't believe what you are saying based on personal experience.

Thanks, that explains why in my Webpage class (making webpages with HTML), my sites usually only worked with IE and Chrome. Teacher never taught us Firefox codes.
#34 to #33 - pyra (02/06/2013) [-]
The differences aren't substantial enough to break sites, but there are minor changes
User avatar #35 to #34 - JohnE (02/06/2013) [-]
Most of my sites were just aligned text with pictures though. We didn't learn a lot there, just how to format a site and put in stuff. The hardest stuff we learned was basic java code (like text boxes you can put info into) and CSS.

Maybe that's all there is to it, though...

I've got a badass gaming laptop, but only 8GB of RAM... whenever I use Chrome and try to play something like Crysis 3, I almost always run out of RAM. Thanks for explaining why my computer has like, 30 instances of chrome.exe running at about 120mb a piece.
User avatar #37 to #36 - ishalltroll (02/06/2013) [-]
>Implying 8 GB of RAM aren't enough for any computer not running Vista.
#39 to #25 - anon (02/06/2013) [-]
Thanks for insight, i didn't know this :) Anon's happy now!

btw Opera's pretty good, I've got the impression that it's more user friendly... and i hate Chrome's downloading bar for some reason:P
#40 to #39 - pyra (02/06/2013) [-]
The issue that chrome has with that is that chrome will not let you open a file, you always have to download it, no matter what, and that can be an issue with security reasons

**** PC reporting in. Chrome works like a ******* champ, Firefox makes me wanna pull my hair out. This PC cannot play minecraft because it's so **** .

Clarify please, because firefox supports title tags just fine.
#181 to #168 - pyra (02/07/2013) [-]
They use some other tag in HTML for IE instead of the title tag. I forget what it is

I bet none of you can even give decent reasoning why IE is so bad. You all just jump on the bandwagon the Internet is. Hurr durr IE is slow I know cuz FJ told me so. I better not use anything else but Chrome because I want to be like everyone.
I've asked tons of people why it's so bad and no one could give me a reason except a "I dunno.. isn't it?"

I have both Chrome and IE. They both run perfectly. I haven't measured the milliseconds it takes them to load a page, but I'm pretty sure IE doesn't take significantly more. The same goes for any browser I tried. Some are just more convenient than others.
User avatar #123 to #88 - mutzaki (02/06/2013) [-]
For me, Chrome actually takes many more seconds to load up than IE, and they both work at the same speed. I also prefer the bookmarks IE offers.
I only ever use Chrome for adblock on occasion.
#133 to #88 - anon (02/06/2013) [-]
IE crashes all the time for me, and thats ******* annoying. i only use chrome over FF because google makes solid **** and i like them as a company.
#135 to #133 - anon (02/06/2013) [-]
and by "all the time" i mean probably like a couple times a month, if that, which is a couple times more then Chrome or FF do.

On my laptop IE does run significantly slower than Chrome, which is why I prefer it. But maybe that's just me.
User avatar #103 to #88 - nigthshadow (02/06/2013) [-]
IE gives me the "meh" feeling
and I have had some bad experiences with IE in the past; Crashes, Speed problems and the interface is hideous.
I switched from IE to Chrome on an old computer and the speed different was totally mind-blowing. I think it all comes down to personal experiences and preferences
#129 to #88 - anon (02/06/2013) [-]
I open IE and I know it'll still be opening at my funeral.
#108 to #88 - anon (02/06/2013) [-]
with the upmost minimum of computer hardware, ex: ram, video card etc, and a fresh installation i then installed both IE and firefox, I.E. froze 5 times before i was even remotely moving, downloaded firefox and it hardly lagged and ran much better. The difference is how it handles data.
#154 to #108 - anon (02/06/2013) [-]
when that happens it's probably caused by other software, because IE shouldn't crash on a normal windows installation
#131 to #88 - burningheavy (02/06/2013) [-]
Its all about what you are using. If you are running any form of Linux you are gonna want to use firefox. My dad uses IE but I just dont like it. Everything is small and it just doesnt feel right. So honestly, the reason I use Chrome over IE is because I'm used to chrome, I like chrome and it makes me happy. That and I honestly think it is a tad faster.
User avatar #99 to #88 - dillonanthony (02/06/2013) [-]
I work at a webhosting company, and 99% of problems with forms and issues with logging in especially with cacheing can be solved with

"Can you try a different browser?" After noticing they're using IE.
User avatar #100 to #99 - dillonanthony (02/06/2013) [-]
And then sometimes I need to explain what a browser is.. and why it isn't windows..

Then there's those who get pissed at you because they don't understand and they're not willing to learn, then they demand that you do it.. when you can't because it's a local issue.

Then there is the old people, which won't change anything because they are so used to have everything as it is...
