There's been a lot of anti-religious posts lately. I am afraid some people are just trying to start a ********* .

I'll just go brace myself over here.

This can possibly be the most disrespectful photo on tumblr. I am not saying that you have to agree with what the pizza says, but to ruin it and taint the taste with a bible, you disgust me.

As a Christian, I can take a joke. This is kind of funny. If this was a Koran, the guy would be receiving death threats and there'd be riots in the Middle East.

But won't putting the book in the microwave cause it to catch fire, potentially break the microwave and either leave your pizza cold or ruined beyond belief?

You ******* cunt, just get a plate out of the dishwasher or wash one, stop risking the deliciousness.

User avatar #413 to #385 - grumpythefirst (02/06/2013) [-]
Actually no. A microwave uses waves of heat to cook things from the inside out. The book may burn a small amount, like black spots in the book, but it wouldn't actually catch fire. Just warp a bit (unless in there for a long time. Pizza only needs around 45sec-1min)
#55 - godofal (02/05/2013) [-]
am i the only one that remembers the similar post about a koran the other day?
the post contained a picture of an opened koran with a turd and a strip of bacon on it
while obviously a bit more extreme than a slice of pizza in a microwave, it is pretty similar

but that post was doomed by everyone, this one gets all the praise

im neither a christian nor muslim, and i really dont care about a holy book being desecrated
but what does interest me is the fact that two similar books are both desecrated but the reaction to them couldnt be farther apart

tbh, this really shows how the world works: kill/hurt people, make sure that the world is watching and you pretty much own the world
go about being general assholes *without* physically hurting/killing people and you'l be the laughing stock of the world
User avatar #88 to #55 - gammajk (02/06/2013) [-]
That post got front page. What are you talking about?
#70 to #55 - IAMDIZZYONFANTA (02/05/2013) [-]
Actually, I'm pretty sure it's because they literally shat on the Qu'ran, which is a rather symbolic gesture, and a powerful one at that. Putting a slice of pizza on it and warming it up, however, isn't so much.
User avatar #73 to #70 - godofal (02/05/2013) [-]
i would agree, if i could find a single negative comment here
or a single positive one in the other

i assume you've been on the internet longer than today, in wich case you know that there are always a couple of people laughing at anything
and the opposite: there are always people being insulted by the weirdest of things

noone was laughing at the koran, and noone is yelling blasphemy at this
#120 to #73 - IAMDIZZYONFANTA (02/06/2013) [-]
Then that's either people following an example set by the first few posters, or people being thick, I dunno. I hope it's the first.
#277 to #55 - anonyrnoose (02/06/2013) [-]
I'm pretty sure they got negative responses because nobody wants to look at a piece of **** . I think it'd get the same reaction on this post if somebody shat on it rather than heated pizza on it.
User avatar #42 - imakejewburgers (02/05/2013) [-]
I'm not saying this to bash on any belief system, but I don't see why anyone should be obligated to respect a book because someone else thinks it's holy.
User avatar #225 to #42 - kratosalza (02/06/2013) [-]
Well there is no obligation, it's just considered rude/disrespectful. Kind of like if I were making fun of people who only had one arm, I'm not obligated to be nice to them but I should certainly be respectful of them.
User avatar #230 to #225 - imakejewburgers (02/06/2013) [-]
It's not the same thing though. If a guy only has one arm, most of the time I would think that it wasn't his choice. So you be respectful of the fact that he is suffering from a disability. Religion is not a disability. Religious people choose to believe. Just because they make that choice, I shouldn't have to respect some paper they think is holy.
User avatar #396 to #42 - rockamekishiko (02/06/2013) [-]
i don't see why anyone should respect anything just because someone else finds something or someone special to them.

User avatar #242 to #241 - imakejewburgers (02/06/2013) [-]

User avatar #317 to #278 - awesomenessdefined (02/06/2013) [-]
The difference between respect and accept is a pretty major one.
User avatar #45 to #42 - cadaverbox (02/05/2013) [-]
in the case of one unnamed religion
and i'm not pointing fingers here
they'll bomb the **** outta ya if you don't

otherwise, i see where you might be coming from
but in any case, it's sort of disrespectful to mistreat any book, regardless of whether you like it or not
i wouldn't roast a turkey on the a series of unfortunate events
User avatar #48 to #42 - pockyrin (02/05/2013) [-]
Indeed. I think if you posted a picture of pizza on twilight you'd get an angry reaction with people mad at you, doesn't make them any less moronic though.

I don't understand the image, does it imply a double standard or something?
#406 to #405 - finni (02/06/2013) [-]
It's implying that whenever somebody makes fun of the Bible or does something disrespectful to it, it's considered a good thing that makes the artist express how he thinks bad of the values that they promote, while when somebody does the same for the Koran, everybody rages, Muslims and non-Muslims alike and says that it's racist, xenophobic and so on.

So basically yeah, it is implying a double standard

User avatar #407 to #406 - ninjapwnyourmom (02/06/2013) [-]
Christians do take a little more of a beating when it comes to satirical art. However, you have to admit their is a significant portion of the Christian world that rages whenever they feel the bible has been disrespected. And their is also a significant sect of Muslims who do not rage whenever the Q'ran is disrespected. But I do understand the joke now.
User avatar #415 to #407 - finni (02/06/2013) [-]
yeah, except that whenever the Bible gets disrespected in some way, Christians mostly just feel a little sad or offended, others might also try to respond by defending their beliefs in a comment or whatever, but in the end they'll respect the authors right to draw what he/she likes to.

When it comes to the Quran however, people starts to range and kill random Christians and Jews in the Islamic and Western world and the author gets death threats and needs to be guarded for his/her own safety. And also, the number of people who condemn those acts are a far higher then those about Christianity. Politicians get involved, the author gets criticized by the Media for being disrespectful to Muslims and offending their beliefs, but they don't give a damn when it comes to Christianity.

tl;dr The amount of butthurt you get from doing something like this with the Koran, is way higher than with Christianity
User avatar #425 to #415 - malific (02/06/2013) [-]
The picture is actually based on a true events.

A while back soldiers doing raids on Terrorists confiscated a **** ton of Korans. They then had to be read and such to make sure they weren't being used to pass messages and set-up attacks etc etc... Turns out it was just a **** ton of Korans.

At that point they were like "WTF do we do with all these?" Final decision was made to incinerate them. So they threw them all into an incinerator of something.

ENTER POLITICAL **** STORM.

A few months later, some guy decided to burn a bible as some sort of abstract art and it was hailed as original, thought provoking, and a masterpiece of.. well burning stuff I guess.

Either way... that's how it goes.
User avatar #420 to #415 - ninjapwnyourmom (02/06/2013) [-]
Well you often only experience that kind of rage in areas that are overwhelmed with the ideals of Jihad and Sharia. However, in Africa and the Pacific Islands where Islam is just as popular as the middle east, oppression is fairly rare and minimal when it does appear.
User avatar #427 to #420 - finni (02/06/2013) [-]
Say that to North Nigeria, where several states have introduced Sharia law.

And it's not only in the Muslim world but the Western as well: www.youtube.com/watch?v=YTWbY5PNnJU

And don't forget Denmark

It's not so much I'm offended he used a Bible to hold pizza. It's more I'm annoyed at how smug he is about it. It's not really clever to use it as a plate, he's not really making any point besides "hurr durr I can jump on a bandwagon".
