I was expecting a bunch of rage but all I see are a bunch of normal people being completely rational. Everyone's right, you really cant base your opinions of christians off of just one. Likewise you can't base your opinion of atheists off one or two.

There was literally no reason to posting this, OP. It's a repost, and it's not what most would call "funny". And just because you say ,"No ********** " doesn't mean people won't be upset. Admit it. You were trying to get people mad with this post. You are "A cruel heartless man."

Yeah right, if Steve cheated Wozniak out of thousands of dollars, why did he remain with the company, even to this day? Donated to charity once, in the amount of millions and millions of dollars.

I'm not saying Bill Gates is a bad guy, but Jobs wasn't either. Give credit where credit is due and don't hop on the bandwagon without a 2nd thought. Otherwise you're just proving yourself to be a douchebag.

There are good Christians and good atheists. There are bad Christians and bad atheists. Why cant people grasp this concept at all? Being a specific religion has nothing to do with how good you are as a person and nor does being atheist/agnostic. Jimmys still unrussled.
User avatar #468 to #462 - goblingang (02/04/2013) [-]
but that's the whole point in this post, it's not saying "christians are bad and atheists are good", it's responding to certain religious groups saying we can't be moral or good without god
#472 to #468 - tomainstream (02/04/2013) [-]
that's not what it looks like to me at all my friend. It seems to just be stating that atheists are good and Christians are greedy. That's how a majority of people are reading it.
User avatar #485 to #472 - goblingang (02/04/2013) [-]
Well then they are misinterpreting the message. It's basically just saying:
-Bill Gates and Warren Buffet are good and generous people, even without the "guidance" of religion.
-Pat Robertson is a horrible man, despite being an evangelist.
Conclusion: Religion doesn't necessarily make you a good person in itself, and being an atheist doesn't make you selfish and greedy. Religion is not the soul factor of morality.

I just wish that the christians reading these posts, who are mostly genuinely good people, would stop victimising themselves and assuming that all points made by atheists are attacking them.
#448 - herbolifee (02/04/2013) [-]
I'm pretty sure that if Warren and Bill were christian instead, and Pat was an atheist, **** wouldn't be much different...

User avatar #12 to #7 - slyve ONLINE (02/04/2013) [-]
I don't think this is an attack. It's pointing out that being religious does not automatically make you a good person, and being atheist doesn't automatically make you a bad person. Sadly, we need to point that out, because many people actually believe in those 2 stereotypes.

Your believe is not necessarily linked to how good a person you are, there are both religious and non-religious assholes and i think we should identify as many assholes as we possibly can, no matter what they believe.

But for that to work, people would need to stop thinking that when anyone points out that a religious person is a major dickwaffle it is an attack on religion. It isn't. It is an attack against that person because that person deserves to be attacked. Because he sucks ass.
#19 to #12 - misteryman (02/04/2013) [-]
yea but it doesn't represent anything about atheists being assholes and religious people being good people. this post should have always been look at these atheists, some are wonderful some are assholes. look at these religious people, some are wonderful some are assholes.
User avatar #29 to #19 - slyve ONLINE (02/04/2013) [-]
True, that would have been fair. But i think it doesn't do that, because in some parts of the world (and by that i mean America) Atheists are the least liked minority. According to some Polls, they are trusted as much as rapists. Of course that causes stuff like this to make rounds, they're fighting that kind of prejudice, just as any other group of people fight prejudice if it affects them.

At least that's how i think it is. Feel free to correct me if i got anything wrong.
#341 - skwirl (02/04/2013) [-]
And I heard a religious person did a good thing once and a atheist person did a bad thing once.
My argument is just as logical as yours.

I'm not a very religious man, but I am pissed off that this content is biased. He listed two atheists that are good people and then listed a single Christian who acts very..."un-Christian". Not ALL Christians are good people, but this picture seems to imply that the information given is surprising and informative. It's sanctimonious ******** .
User avatar #243 to #231 - mechaemperor (02/04/2013) [-]
The message the original image tries to relay is not one of demonizing Christians, but rather to shed light on the fact that your deeds can be good without relying on any belief system.
User avatar #245 to #243 - WakaTakaBang (02/04/2013) [-]
It's not necessarily demonizing Christians, but it seems like it has less to do with the latter.
User avatar #248 to #245 - mechaemperor (02/04/2013) [-]
www.funnyjunk.com/channel/atheism/No+shitstorms/yTkmGlG/224#224 this guy illustrates it better.

In the end, getting pissed off because of an interpretation you have from a message relayed isn't really rational.
User avatar #268 to #248 - WakaTakaBang (02/04/2013) [-]
Because it's text, I feel that we both have the right to interpret the way we want to. Seeing as though so many people are being offended by it though, it looks as if the intended message has been taken the wrong way. It's coming off as something anti-religion because it's pointing out two good things about OP's favored side, and one negative fact about a Christian. The fact that this bias exists just gets under my skin.
User avatar #269 to #268 - WakaTakaBang (02/04/2013) [-]

And it gives an example of one good thing the first two did and one bad thing the second one did(or didn't do) while making very sure to show what moral code they follow.
Now I'm no expert but this little studied seems just a tad biased...almost like it's not a study...it's propaganda...blatant propaganda....but I could be wrong, I have been before.
User avatar #219 to #212 - prettyflyforaderp (02/04/2013) [-]
i see what you mean but the richest man in the world is cruel and i was just saying how the 2nd and 3rd richest men dont need god
User avatar #234 to #219 - Vandeekree ONLINE (02/04/2013) [-]
Yes, I'm sure he kills orphanages and burns down puppies in his spare time while the other two are saints.
And let me be the first to say that if one christian does something, you can be sure we all do.
P.S. It says Pat is the richest "Evangelical Christian" he is not and never has been the richest man in the world.
User avatar #244 to #234 - prettyflyforaderp (02/04/2013) [-]
Ok wow this conversation is over because you are being a dick. i never said he killed orphans, hes a slave owner.
User avatar #252 to #244 - Vandeekree ONLINE (02/04/2013) [-]
he is not a slave owner, he is in the diamond business which is currently having issues with blood diamonds coming in from Africa that use slave labor when being mined.
And i was trying to be over dramatic and highly sarcastic, not a full on dick. I apologize if it came off that way but this post isn't exactly made in good taste either.
User avatar #257 to #252 - prettyflyforaderp (02/04/2013) [-]
Slave labor is horrible still. In turn though he is a bad man.
User avatar #264 to #257 - Vandeekree ONLINE (02/04/2013) [-]
I don't think I ever said forced labor was a very good thing, and yes, he is quit the dirty character, but would you stay it's entirely fair to put him up as the poster child or all Christians?

i never said he was all christians.
User avatar #274 to #266 - Vandeekree ONLINE (02/04/2013) [-]
The point of this post was showing that good deeds don't require God(something i disagree with but I'm not trying to hook you into that debate i promise) by giving examples of two men who are secular and one christian who has questionable financial dealings. Presenting it in a way that suggests religion does nothing in terms of increasing a person's morality.
User avatar #278 to #274 - prettyflyforaderp (02/04/2013) [-]
i know what your saying, like a chrstian could put up the 4th and 5th richest people in the world and then post an athesit man richer than them and he is cruel.
User avatar #285 to #278 - Vandeekree ONLINE (02/04/2013) [-]
Exactly. And i fully understand the desire to post this and get thumbs because it seems to make a point, but it's quit simply misleading and that's my problem with it. It's not that I'm telling you to be quit because i disagree with you, but at least present the atheist side with a bit less mocking wit and a bit more respectful humor(sense this is supposed to be a humor site)
User avatar #289 to #285 - prettyflyforaderp (02/04/2013) [-]
i know and honestly when i posted this i realized that pat isnt the richest man in the world. what i really meant with this post is that you dont need the thought of going to heaven to do a good deed
User avatar #295 to #289 - Vandeekree ONLINE (02/04/2013) [-]
I completely agree, but you do need to know what things are good to do good things....which starts us into another little debate, let me know if you're in the mood to talk about it, if not i'll just not push it. haha

Guys fun fact. If you say you're going to be a part of a religion, but don't follow any of it's traditions, rules, haven't read it's book of knowledge or holy book, and just don't do anything but take up it's title... you probably aren't really a part of that religion.
#401 - xnotcreative (02/04/2013) [-]
I'm not a Christian, but I am quite fond of their religion.

The church I live near does a weekly "Feed the Poor" campaign where they unlock all the doors of the church, and let people come in and enjoy their meal, and if they want to, there's a sermon going on in the chapel room, where the poor can learn about the love of God if they want to.

It's actually nice seeing people find something to live for.

TL;DR
Even if God's not real, the idea of him saved a lot of people and comforted many.

These posts are never pro-Atheism, they're always anti-religion.
I'm not religious, neither am I on this atheism bandwagon so I don't really have an opinion for here nor there.
I just believe that we are all capable of horrible things, and all perfectly capable of being good people.

Anti religion arguments are as dried out as the whole "if you don't believe you're going to hell".

There is no bandwagon.
If anything it's christianity that's the bandwagon, since that IS the most recent/new religion.
