My mother refused to put me on medication because she said it was rob me of my imagination. God bless that woman.

Same here, but it was my dad. He's on medication himself (for epilepsy) and I rarely see how much of a truly brilliant man he is.

On the other hand, it can really help. I recently started Ritalin because I flunked out of college, finally got to a psychiatrist and got officially diagnosed with ADHD. I've had trouble with my grades since kindergarten. I developed really low self-esteem because my parents said I was smart, but I couldn't get the grades to prove it. For years, I hated myself for being lazy and not doing schoolwork properly, or forgetting things, or procrastinating. Even now, the word "procrastination" makes me want to cry and beat myself up.

The point is, child psychiatric medication is a fine line to be walked. I don't know for sure how I would have turned out if I had been medicated earlier, but I honestly wish I was.

I cried a little reading these. Thank you.
Out of all the gifs I have, and all the reaction pictures. I have nothing to show for it.

It's a commentary on how pills like Ritalin are making children less imaginative and robbing them of their child hoods by causing them to focus on things like school work instead of fun.

reminds me of the episode of South Park where Butters is diagnosed with MPD because of his imagination. It seems like people today are afraid of kids imaginations and are trying to suppress them. They say kids need to go outside and play more, but yet they do **** like this to take away the best part about playing outside as a kid.
