I think it's more like green-blue
User avatar #59 to #58 - OptimaTentacle (02/03/2013) [-]
Well, whatever. The person had all the variants of green put together. If I was organizing this, I would've put the car that you pointed at in yellow, but probably wouldn't have cared to start to begin with.

You guys know OCD is an anxiety disorder and not a personality trait, right?
User avatar #19 to #17 - tinglyturtletaint (02/03/2013) [-]
Actually there is both a personality disorder version and a genetic disorder. They are both pretty similar but the genetic one cannot be fixed without medication while the personality disorder can be fixed with therapy.
User avatar #22 to #19 - ultrarobbie (02/03/2013) [-]
That is indeed true, but I meant the use of the word as if it were an adjective. E.g. 'I am so OCD about washing my hands'.
#21 to #19 - anon (02/03/2013) [-]
Still up for debate really, the genetic condition can be treated similarly to the personality disorder presuming the patient is fairly young. And I don't think either can be properly 'fixed', only the symptoms managed.

I know... How is that going to help me in life? Knowing I'm not "just like that", but it's something wrong with my brain? I don't use the term OCD other than in the sentence "I have OCD".
User avatar #214 to #36 - ultrarobbie (02/03/2013) [-]
I was talking about the people using it in sentences where it doesn't really work grammatically. Maybe I'm reading your comment wrong, my brain's a little fuzzy at the moment.
User avatar #216 to #214 - vexaton ONLINE (02/03/2013) [-]
I read your comment wrong then. I thought you were explaining what OCD is in general, not used in sentences. is all gewd
User avatar #223 to #216 - ultrarobbie (02/04/2013) [-]
Oh no, just explaining that using it like "I'm so OCD about tidying" is misusing it :)
User avatar #23 to #17 - MrMustacho (02/03/2013) [-]
when people say they have OCD in this context they don't mean they are obsessive or have a disorder they just dramatize their compulsion to keep stuff ordered

like when you call someone retarded you're not saying he has 47 chromosomes, you just think he's too stupid to use a normal toilet
User avatar #45 to #23 - ultrarobbie (02/03/2013) [-]
I do know that, but I try to avoid misusing words now in order to prevent offending people. Of course it's different on the internet like with FunnyJunk as we usually take things as a joke, but it affects people differently IRL.

Anyway, I was just wondering if people knew they were misusing it. It just seems silly to me when you're saying "I feel so obsessive-compulsive disorder today", you know? My Media case study is on it so that's why I'm probably so picky about it.

One of the real problems is self-diagnosis of OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) instead of OCP (Obsessive Compulsive Personality). One is an anxiety disorder, one is a far less severe, though actual need, for order. The latter is much more common, but does not affect day to day life in a nearly as severe way.
