When did people who like metal start getting associated with worshiping satan, Iv seen it a lot lately. Did I miss something or has this always happened? While I dont like the genre myself i still dont think less of the people. Although I still want to know when this happned.

Without trying to create a ********* it was originally the old Catholics. In the early 1900's basically everything that wasn't Country or Classical was considered "Devil's Music." It wasn't until everyone stopped giving a **** and started listening to artists outside of Country that they finally shut up about it for the most part.

However, the church-going population that had those ideas were generally white. The black people from those times up until hip-hop/rap was invented always had a love for any type of music.

It's been happening for a long time. And I mean a long ******* time. Part of it is black metal. Religious people a lot of the time find black metal to be offensive. It's almost all "hail Satan" sort of stuff. Gaahl for instance (guy in the picture) and his band at the time (Gorgoroth) had a concert in Poland that featured impaled goat and sheep heads, satanic symbols, and mock crusifictions with models covered in fake blood. (If you want to see a video of theirs with that same sort of thing, look up Carving a Giant on youtube.) So naturally things got blown out of proportion, and all metal got associated with satanism.

I'm a brony as well and listen to all kinds of metal. Black metal in my opinion is some of the more strange stuff.

black metal is the one with anti-religion lyrics. It's the one most associated with satanism. There was a band, called Mayhem, where the singer(Dead) would sing with a dead crow in his hand, had beheaded animals on pikes, and would cut himself on stage. One former member killed another with 25 stabs, and the singer killed himself. He did it at first by slitting his wrists, but then used a shotgun because it was too slow. He even left a note that basically said sorry for the mess

those pansies. How can they not enjoy a brain stew of someone that killed himself? Why deny the piece of his skull that was a gift? Those damn assholes

been happening for some time. I say it's due to the growls and screaming. People don't properly listen to it. I've heard songs that have the same meaning, yet one would be classified as satanic simply because of the growls. It sometimes happens in other genres as well

The two songs I mentioned. Both metal, although different subgenres of it

and a rock song that tends to get misinterpreted

When it comes to lyrics, I prefer the kind that make you think, or are somehow deep
www.youtube.com/watch?v=dunKAwRN3P8 A Perfect Circle-Imagine
www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHLEC35XvmQ Swallow the Sun-Weight of the Dead

Between the two, I preferred Ouroboros
