invents and discovered are used synonimously. like how edison "invented" electricity. especially since he "invented" the least used form and used edisons version to make electric chairs. literally he used that as a reason that AC was bad. he took a guy put him ain a chair and killed his ass. all why saying Alternating current is bad. theres no proof for a lot of things yet millions believe it. he did however make the tesla coil which i believe is being referred to. the death ray has been rumored since socrates, or arostotle cant remember which.

Well, the death way thing, is kinda true. Far as i remember, he created a particle ray, that could actually do a far amount of damage if the particle stream wasn't interrupted. Only problem is, due to collision between air and the stream, theres no way to fire it anywhere outside of a vacoom, with the desired effect.
Far as i remember, that was what he actually invented.

And he did go around saying he made it function in earths atmosphere, but at that point he had went sort of insane, so people had stopped taking him very seriously.
