fun fact jiffy is actually a measure of time it one one hundreth of a second
User avatar #72 to #1 - fosforgasxiii (02/01/2013) [-]
A jiffy has actually no set lenght.

User avatar #4 to #1 - rainbowtacos (02/01/2013) [-]
Actually...
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jiffy_(time)
A jiffy is an indeterminate amount of time, but if you're using it in electrical systems its usually 1/60 or 1/50 a second.

"How about a jiffy or a flash? Which is quicker, a jiffy or a flash? I think
there are two flashes in a jiffy myself. But God knows how many jiffies there
are in two shakes of a lambs tail. But why did they use two shakes of a lambs
tail? What's wrong with the basic unit of measurement, one shake of a lamb's
tail? We can do our own arithmetic, thank you."

Another fun fact - a black hole created from our Sun's mass (were that possible) wouldn't suck the Earth in - or anything else actually. It still has the same mass so has the same gravitational pull as the Sun.
User avatar #3 to #2 - lexivex ONLINE (02/01/2013) [-]
We'd still all die due to the fact there is no more ******* sunlight
#5 to #3 - daleoo (02/01/2013) [-]
Well yeah there's that, but on the plus side a black hole forming wouldn't destroy the planet.

Well our Sun would be less than 6km across if it became a black hole, and seeing as the sun is 1,380,000km in diameter normally, we can assume (probably wrongly, but this is just for the sake of the conversation) that black holes shrink in size by a factor of approximately 230,000.

If we guess that a tiny black hole is, say, 1mm across, it's original size would have been 230,000mm, or 2.3km. So no, it wouldn't have any more gravitational pull than say, a small mountain - which is none large enough to have a physical effect.
User avatar #74 - fosforgasxiii (02/01/2013) [-]
I only got to solving one side and then I stopped because I didn't want to ruin that side trying to solve the other sides.

wait, just because you can hold some impeccable record of solving Rubik's cubes suddenly makes you a physics expert on blackholes
User avatar #33 to #29 - chubberbrother (02/01/2013) [-]
It's not a record. It's not even good. World record is under 6 seconds, and the average is like 20 seconds.
User avatar #39 to #33 - batassassin (02/01/2013) [-]
yeah, the average is definitely closer to like 7 years. i got a rubiks cube for my 12th birthday and have yet to solve it, and im willing to bet the same goes for almost everyone else who ever got one.
User avatar #49 to #39 - alphawolffifteen (02/01/2013) [-]
I solved it in 4 days. There are videos of people solving it in a few seconds though.
User avatar #70 to #49 - cptmongtard (02/01/2013) [-]
That doesn't mean that that's the average though

there's a huge difference between having a lateral mind/memory and being a physics expert. I hate how some child who could recite pi to 15 places is suddenly considered as some mega genius who's good enough to get granted a scholar at Harvard or something.
