only if it is constantly calibrated, that is like saying that a dollar is always worth a dollar, inflation happens

the iq is just the ability to learn
having a high iq does not make you smart, it's just easier to learn
ofc you can still refuse to learn and be an idiot

No, he means that the whole point of the IQ system is that the world average is 100.
So if everyone got smarter, the average would still be 100, but it would mean something slightly different.

He only did it in America. Everywhere else kept their stupid people, so there would probably only be a small adjustment, because USA has about 4% of the world's population.

Then why the **** does everyone seem so stupid to me?
User avatar #89 to #55 - ienjoyrofling (01/27/2013) [-]
Everyone you meet is smarter than you in some way. Everyone you meet can do something better than you can. While someone may seem stupid to you, due to a judgement based on 'They can't do math that well, therefore they are stupid' to them, the fact that you can't change your own oil, or some other handy-work skill, makes them think 'Sheesh, is this guy STUPID or what?'
User avatar #91 to #89 - EdwardNigma (01/27/2013) [-]
I don't think they're stupid for not doing math though.
I think they're stupid because everyone seems mindless, driven by what society tells them to do, not what they want, following every new trend like they die if they don't, it confuses me.

Aw boy...

Did you know that there are several types of intelligence ? (about 8-9 - as proposed by Howard Gardner). As per the individual who left the previous comment, he is right. There is also another possible solution - that where you are an arrogant prick.

Or maybe I've had 4 hours of sleep and have no shortage of contempt for humans.

But I don't ride trains.

But isn't good for them? To be in a mindless stupor of just happiness? Granite, a very worthless and meaningless happiness, but nevertheless, they still enjoy who they are and what not. And frankly, you might find it odd to see that 'I must do what society tells me' kind of people, are as evenly matched as 'I MUSN'T do what society tells me' because they're 2edgy4u, besides, we all follow a few trends ourself, nobody can deny that.
User avatar #95 to #94 - EdwardNigma (01/27/2013) [-]
I guess but, I don't follow trends. Following a trend implies I like it because others do.

I like something because I like it, I hate something because I hate it, it's real simple.
User avatar #96 to #95 - ienjoyrofling (01/27/2013) [-]
Actually, a trend just implies something getting popular, while you may not like it because of friends, a lot of people, even without knowing it, are heavily influenced by friends/family. Now, I get 'following a trend' is different from just a 'trend,' before you hop on that train.
