Helvetios, no doubt. That album was a masterpiece, with Home being the best track. The melody in Epilogue was also amazing!

Let us hope they get a good place in the history books of music. Bloody hell, they're eight people making a history book on celts themselves! Just, more musical!

Indeed, they're pure win, their mastery of the instrument and the ability to actually make so many different instruments fit together, it's just win.

And not that many bands can make Growling sound that good. Even before I came across growling, I understood the Vocalist perfectly fine. They took Folk Metal, and perfected in even more then Skyclad did!

They perfected folk music more then anyone else, ever. The growling is perfect for it, they've managed to make folk music become my fav genre, eventhough I only listen to a few folk bands.

I really do like the instrumental of folk metal, but I've found that I usually don't like the singing for some reason. Some of it is neat, but mostly it kind of ruins it for me..

A great example for my dissatisfaction is from that band. This one:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=iijKLHCQw5o

I really like the start, but I'm not much for the "Aaah" stuff. Excuse the way I say this, but the "screaming". "Growling". Whatever you call it.

But I do like the song in here (Not from the same band as above.):

I think the vocals are an acquired taste. I used to hate unclean vocals, but then I began to get into some black metal and then folk metal, and I learned to love it.
I think folk metal would lose a lot of depth and character if it only had clean vocals.

i have the same opinion as you, I i only like clean vocals or no vocals at all and i really like the instrumental of most folk/viking metal bands but the growling ruins it for me and i really wish there were more viking and folk metal bands that used clean vocals.

perhaps you might like this song by turisas

Well, Eluveitie and Korplikaani does have completely different style.

For example, Eluveitie is more folk metal with elements from black metal, like Ensiferum.

Whereas Korplikaani leans more towards the classic heavy metal style, much like Skyclad.

Yes, but it's still folk metal. I can't say I like all of their songs, mostly just that one that I really like. To be honest. Maybe it's because I haven't explored too much of their music.

Anyways, I just felt like saying what I disliked about that song which happened to be from that band.
