That's pretty much how I felt when I bought a new laptop. I just made sure that everything it had was a higher number and/or fancier name than my previous one. I still don't know what RAM is, only that I have six gigabytes of it, which is more than I used to have.
User avatar #54 to #20 - retributionthepimp (01/20/2013) [-]
In addition to what the sir below said, RAM is what the computer uses to run programs. So to put it in simple terms, the more RAM you have, the more programs you can open at once and the faster they run. There are, of course, other contributing factors to this, but that's the easiest way I can explain RAM.

I can completely relate. I normally would think that everyone else is like a computer geek who knows the pros and cons, but I'm not alone after all!

I've never seen a single Mac post on Funnyjunk (and I'm pretty much always on Newest uploads), yet I see a lot of posts bashing Mac. Makes me think, who are the true sheep following bandwagons?

FJ is filled with people following bandwagons. Pony bandwagon, anime bandwagon, mac hating bandwagon, PC lover bandwagon, Zelda bandwagon (the games aren't that funny in my opinion). It's something we have to deal with.

Well last time I checked OSX doesn't respect our freedom

they soldered the RAM into the motherboard of the macbook air, I mean come on. Your RAM fails? Oh time to buy a new ******* computer

I don't got or want a mac, I like PC's, but I really don't understand what the issue is with them.

No games?
Most of the people who use macs aren't gamers. If they were gamers, they would know to get a PC. Most people who use them use it for work/ internet/ picture editing, at which it performs adequately.

It's apple?
If its a decent product that I need, I'm gonna buy it. Like I said, I don't use macs, But I got an Iphone and Ipad that I like.

Expensive?
Yea, its expensive, but you know what? My laptop is an alienware(sue me), which costs more than a mac or standard PC. I could have built one cheaper.(aintnoonegotimefordat.jpg)You buy it partly for the name, there's no denying it. If you got the coin, may as well buy a nice laptop/desktop.

Casual users?
Yea, not everyone is a tech genius. Big surprise that the average consumer would go for the popular item that gets the job done.

>Most of the people who use macs aren't gamers. If they were gamers, they would know to get a PC. Most people who use them use it for work/ internet/ picture editing, at which it performs adequately.

I'm pretty sure most computer user in general aren't gamers at all.

>If its a decent product that I need, I'm gonna buy it. Like I said, I don't use macs, But I got an Iphone and Ipad that I like.

I don't have an argument here just because there is nothing to argue.

Alienware costs more because you're getting your money's worth because of the specs. Macs are all show, they don't have good specs at all. You're basically buying the name and the design.

>Yea, not everyone is a tech genius. Big surprise that the average consumer would go for the popular item that gets the job done.

Just goes to show you how ignorant people are. Paying more for less. But hey atleast Macs are pretty!
User avatar #46 to #43 - byposted (01/20/2013) [-]
>Alienware costs more because you're getting your money's worth because of the specs.

Alienware is regarded as another Apple in the PC world. There are cheaper alternatives in which you can match Alienware's offerings.

>it is intel and ati, just like most laptops. the computer is not greater than the sum of its parts

>they are fairly priced if you look at them close enough, they may have a bit of a mark up but they are not too bad

>apple sells to everyone. they have the punch to do most tasks pretty well.

i use an hp because i just can't give up my double tap for click. i spent $950 on it, a comparable macbook (at the time) was about $40 more.

Its not the fact that they're not tech genius' its that this information is free on the internet. Also, if you have an apple ipad/iphone you got ripped the **** off. I'm sorry there is no other way of explaining it but you literally spent 400 dollars MORE than you needed to or got a giant contract on your ass. The sad part is Apple is a bad business. Not that PC is a good one, but Mac is just the rotten core of business practices. Supporting them means you are encouraging paying more for a fee of sometimes 100-300 dollars for an apple logo.

**** man, you got an ipad and an iphone. Why? For the love of god. I got a kindle fire. 200 dollars and it does everything your ipad does. Don't like kindles? Why not a Nook then? The newest one also supports just about everything as an ipad. Oh you like the screen size? Well for 300 dollars just pick up a ******* notebook that has everything an ipad does but more.

Now you need a ******* phone? Just get a normal one since you already have a ******* device that allows you to do everything in the palm of your hand. No? Oh you enjoy paying pricetags upwards of 400 dollars for things you already have? ******* idiot. Thats why I hate macfags.

All?
People build their own PC's all the time. You kinda need to know computer terminology to build a PC.
You are almost completely unable to build your own Mac, the OS won't run on a franken-machine, at least not well.
