Yeah! They'll take all the guns away! And then the black people will kill all the hard working country folk!

Oh wait. That's not what's been discussed at all, a ban on assault weapons and a limit on clip size. Mental health reform to aid those who are self destructive and reform on tracking weapon sales.

Fear mongering says hello.

>Assault Weapons
I see you've listened to the media well. Assault weapons can go fully automatic, the weapons the media calls "assault weapons" can't. They're just trying to get an emotional reaction from the masses.

All of my rage.

History lesson for today, then.
The original U.S. constitution was not passed. Ten specific changes (known as the Bill of Rights) were included in order for it to pass.
Now, why was it referred to as the bill of rights, and why was congress so interested in passing it?

Because the Bill of Rights was not to protect the government from the people, but the people from the government.

Pictures have been circulating everywhere of all the new riot control gear, but careful observers have noticed a dramatic increase over the past month. Why? Because the government knows that if they push too hard, the people will rise against them. Say, breaking the Bill of Rights. But it's hard to overthrow a government when you get a five shot magazine (not clip you ignorant prick) from a weak ass twenty-two and the police have full riot gear, fully automatic weapons with 30 or more rounds.

Ask not why we are afraid of guns. Ask instead what the government is afraid of.

Oh please, no one here would actually rise against the government. Even if they did, they still wouldn't stand a chance against the military.

Because a population of 300,000,000 people with Bolt action rifles would never be an effective uprising...

300,000,000 people vs a military of less than 3,000,000.

Yeah, the people don't stand a chance. *sarcasm*

Man, you are totally right, because it does not seem like common sense that someone with no military or special law enforcement employment has no need for high powered weaponry. It makes complete sense for any Joe Schmoe to have a rifle that can be converted to be a full auto weapon, or better yet purchase full auto weapons when they live in a civilized country without fear of nightly raids of marauding rebels.

>High powered weaponry
Most hunting rifles are more "high powered" than most of these "assault weapons".

>Converted to be a full auto weapon
It's not as easy as one might think. You would need completely different parts as well as the know-how.

In the 20th Century, 220 Million people were killed by their government. Most of them probably believed their government wouldn't possibly do such a thing.

Oh, I know how powerful Hunting rifles can be, but it is just a tad bit harder to mass murder with a hunting rifle, compared to a semi-automatic rifle.

While it s not easy, the fact does remain that it can be done.

As for your last point, there is no real argument for that. You are completely right, but its more of a "do you really think the American Government has any thoughts of murdering its own citizens?"
