I dreamt of Mercenaries 2 for a long ass time. And then when it finally came out... disappointment.

Disappointment everywhere.

Well i dunno, game was fairly fun, the biggest issue was just all the ******* bugs and pants-on-head-retarded A.I. Well to a certain degree i suppose you also could argue that any weapon combo besides AK47 + RPG was pointless until XM8 and Fuel Air RPG became available.

I loved Mercs 1, and then expected so much from the sequel. Chalk it down to over anticipation, but it just didn't deliver as promised in my opinion.

Oh yeah, and don't forget they did promise jets and the ability to shoot a car's gas tank and then set alight the leaking fuel. Then they revoked these things.

Oh yeah, that's true, i suddenly remember they even promised a proper physics engine at some point to help destroying buildings... Guess that's what happens when you also gotta develop a version for the PS2

Oddly enough Far Cry 3 disappointed me a bit too. Not as badly, but I think I geared myself up for it too much.

Campaign is great, lots of fun, lots of replay value. I still haven't got round to trying multiplayer. At a glance, it seems way too complicated, with all the encryption and stuff.

But the map editor. The map editor broke my heart. It's the girl I fell in love with when I played Far Cry 2, who promised to become so much more. And now, she's just... unreliable and constantly acts like she's on her period and she just doesn't care about me anymore. I can't stand it.

I loved the Mercenaries games! One thing that killed them though was the fact that Just Cause and Just Cause 2 would come out a few months after Pandemic's release and it was LITERALLY the same game*, set aside that Just Cause set aside a larger budget.
*Both set in "Venezuela," both in oil conflicts, both have corny female rebel leaders with funny sounding names. both have similar means for executing vehicle theft. etc.
