And with Hobbits it works on a scale of how nice you are. Example: Bilbo gave nice Hobbits a frickin' bookshelf, and he gave Lobelia spoons.

> Still thinks he should pay more taxes

If he were to give the government money, I don't think they would refuse it. So why doesn't he just give more money and lead the way? Could it be because he just wants people to like him more and not view him as an evil 1%?

I'm sorry about making an argument from a joke, but this always annoyed me. They could very easily just pay more to the government if they TRULY believe that; they don't need a tax to make them.
User avatar #69 to #67 - schneidend (01/17/2013) [-]
I don't think it's actually legal to just give the government a ******* of money.
User avatar #70 to #69 - swedishassassin ONLINE (01/17/2013) [-]
How so? You can do it through Government bonds, what says you can't give the government money as a gift? Would you look for the legal reason not to take the money if you were the government?
#75 to #70 - anon (01/17/2013) [-]
Ever heard of lobbieng...
Thats what it is...
Giving money as gift and other things...
User avatar #73 to #70 - schneidend (01/17/2013) [-]
I can guarantee somebody would. People would wonder why that money was being gifted, what it was being used for, and what the gifter was getting out of the transaction. Questions would be asked, and some people would be angry. But, like I said, I would imagine it's simply not legal to just give the government money so as to avoid exactly that. Where would you send it, exactly? Which branch gets to spend it? Who checks to make sure it's not from a Columbian drug lord?

Every time I see this, I get a feel from Vader. I mean, what did he have to endure to turn from that **************** brat to cold and broken man who seemed to had been doing what he was doing from either sense of duty, or just denial that anything has sense anymore.
