This Troll Should Have Stuck At Home
There is a large anime convention at our hotel.
During these conventions, many guests dress up as
their favorite characters. Some even go and
will wear body paint or mascot suits, carry fake
weapons, etc. Even during these conventions, non-
convention goers stay in the hotel. I am working the ,
front desk and am approached by a very angry A
guest.) M
Me: "How may I help you today?" 2:
Guest: "Kick these d*** ed freaks out of this hotel!
They' re disturbing my children!"
Me: “I' m very sorry, ma' am. The event is already
going on, and all of these people have paid to
Guest: "They' re disturbing my children! They have
weapons! They' re dangerous freaks!"
Me: "We wouldn' t allow real weapons on the
convention floor. All weapons have been checked,
and all of them are props. I can assure you that no
one here will harm your children with their

Me: “Ma' am, there is no cult activity."
Guest: "If it' s not a cult, then why are they painted
grey? And why are they wearing devil horns?
They' re the headmasters of the cult!'' *motions to a
nearby group in costume'
Me: "They' re in costumes. This is an anime
convention. Many people dress up in costumes. That
group is dressed up as characters from [popular
webcomic]. They' re not a cult.''
Guest: “You' re lying! They' re a
cult! They' re going to wait until midnight, then
sacrifice all the virgins to Satan!"
Me: "Actually, the only thing happening at midnight
tonight is the convention' s dance."
Guest: "A dance with the devil! You even admitted
Me: "I never said that."
Guest: "And them, over there! In the animal
costumes!" *motions to a group of people in mascot
suits* "Theyde going to perform strange sex acts on
sacrifice all the virgins to Satan!"

tonight is the convention' s dance."

Me: “I never said that."
Guest: "And them, over there! In the animal
costumes!" *motions to a group unpeople in mascot
suits* "Theyde going to perform strange sex acts on
innocent people at the cult meeting tonight! How
dare you let this happen?!"
Me: “Ma' am, if you would listen to me-"
There is now a long line of people waiting to be
helped behind her, most of whom look upset with
the way this guest is talking.)
Guest: *turns around to the people in line' "Don' t
check into this hotel! They let crazy cults of devil-
worshippers bring weapons in to sacrifice virgins and
then have sex!" *runs ofte
Next Guest in line: ''...Heh. Normal people are
funny. Can I please have some extra towels?"

If they were going to sacrifice all virgins at midnight there would not be a single one of them left

"[popular webcomic]" Oh, you mean Homestuck, which easily makes up 50% of the cosplays so long as there is a Homestuck panel. Totally ruined AWA. The coolest part of anime conventions is the great hand made costumes, not a bunch of kids running around in jeans, black t-shirts with some poorly drawn symbol on them and a bit of blue face paint. I hadn't heard about Homestuck before last year's AWA, but that made me rather dislike it.

MFW anyone mentions Homestuck.
#22 to #19 - anon (01/17/2013) [-]
It's probably the cheapest and easiest costume one can make that still *kind* of qualifies as a costume.
User avatar #27 to #22 - mathmatical (01/17/2013) [-]
L is from Death Note totally haha!
User avatar #29 to #27 - thepyras (01/17/2013) [-]
That kind of cosplay only works if you actually look like the character.
User avatar #23 to #22 - thepyras (01/17/2013) [-]
That's the point. Why go in costume if you don't want to put the time into it.
User avatar #28 to #19 - xyxoz (01/17/2013) [-]
While I understand that Homestuck is not an anime, you wouldn't be as annoyed if you read the comic. It's quite good, if a little slow at times.
User avatar #31 to #19 - decembermemory (01/17/2013) [-]
homestuck is a legitimate web comic full of action, time travel, romance and other drama.
please dont judge it until youve read it.
User avatar #34 to #31 - thepyras (01/17/2013) [-]
That may be, but its fans manage to ruin any event at which they gather and so have convinced me that it's nothing I want to be a part of.
User avatar #46 to #34 - decembermemory (01/18/2013) [-]
how exactly do the ruin it? they are just cosplaying and roleplaying.
User avatar #47 to #46 - thepyras (01/18/2013) [-]
Do you actually want an answer?
User avatar #48 to #47 - decembermemory (01/18/2013) [-]
yes. i want to know how cosplayers ruin conventions.
User avatar #49 to #48 - thepyras (01/18/2013) [-]
It was not a Homestuck convention, it was an anime convention, yet they made up about half of the cosplayers there. That ruins the convention because their costumes are terrible and the only people who want to see Homestuck cosplays are the people wearing them.
User avatar #50 to #49 - decembermemory (01/19/2013) [-]
but there ARE no cons for just homestuck. where are we supposed to go? and they dont look awful, the costumes are just really simple. some people dont want to see naruto cosplays or bleach or madoka or street fighter. its not just homestuck.
dont be so ignorant.
User avatar #51 to #50 - thepyras (01/19/2013) [-]
Their simplicity makes them terrible costumes. Can you imagine a fantasy movie where all of the costuming was normal jeans and tshirts with a bit of face paint? No one would see it because it would feel lazy. Besides, the convention is about seeing everything at the same place, the diversity is key. If half the people wear the same thing then there's no point in going.
User avatar #52 to #51 - decembermemory (01/19/2013) [-]
"half the people wear the same thing there no point in going."
light yagami
any final fantasy character
any street fighter character
you see where im going?
most are simple and there are at least 3 of one at every con.
no cosplayer ruin cons, thats what cons are for.
User avatar #53 to #52 - thepyras (01/19/2013) [-]
I'm sorry, are all of those the same thing? No, they are different things, and even if the convention was split into equal parts for each of only those animes it would still be better than half of everyone there wearing Homestuck stuff. Unfortunately at the last convention I went to all of those characters together were less than 5% of the whole population. I wish there were more Final Fantasy cosplays, those guys tend to put a lot of work into their costumes.
#54 to #53 - decembermemory (01/19/2013) [-]
homestuck cosplayer will also put work into there costumes.
User avatar #55 to #54 - thepyras (01/19/2013) [-]
That might have taken a couple of hours. Again, these are just normal clothes with something painted on.
User avatar #56 to #55 - decembermemory (01/19/2013) [-]
who cares? theyre doing what they love! you dont have to look at them or even ******* go to the con
you are the most stubborn, stuck up person ive ever debated with.
User avatar #57 to #56 - thepyras (01/19/2013) [-]
I'm not really stubborn or stuck up, but conventions are way better without Homestuck. Homestuckers make up way more of the convention than they should, which really just ruins it. Everyone else there is doing what they love too, but the convention is for everyone, not just for Homestuck.
User avatar #41 to #31 - thatnerdyguy (01/17/2013) [-]
And Hetalia isn't bad either, but it's fans were still on the verge of ruining most conventions before they switched to Homestuck (and it is a lot of the same people).
#40 to #19 - SexBobOmb (01/17/2013) [-]
It's a decent enough webcomic if you give it a chance. There's even a decent number that are pretty cool, but there's an even larger amount that are rabid fangirls, but even then, some of them are pretty decent. There are also some pretty decent cosplays out there as well. Sure, it takes any amount of effort to toss on some jeans and one of the shirts, but more effort to actually look like and become the character.

Look, I go I could go deeper into this, but I really see no point. Homestuck fans are just Bronies are all over again, albeit on a smaller scale. *blah blah blah* Bronies are dum *blah blah blah*. People are goin' to rag on 'em for one reason or another, and then they're goin' to stop carin'. Why don't we all just cut out the middle man and each do what we want to do? I'll keep readin' Homestuck and you'll keep /not/ ridin' Homestuck. Savvy?

I'm sorry that if you felt that you wasted your time readin' this/didn't read this at all because it was a long-ass comment defendin' a webcomic I love and enjoy.

******* thank you. I swear to god, the only anime convention I have ever went to was absolutely swarming with Homestuck cosplayers. I thought that the bronies would outnumber them (I'm not a brony myself, but damn they make some good cosplays) but ******* no. It was just (as you said) kids with jeans, t-shirts, make-up, and ****** horns.

How did you know this was the convention you went to? If it was the story about the crazy hotel guest, then I understand, but there is nothing else in this content that gives any indication as to where (in Ohio) or when this particular convention took place.
User avatar #17 to #11 - mathmatical (01/17/2013) [-]
My friend who got this said that it was posted the day after our convention had ended (A&G Con) and no other ones in Ohio were going on.
