If you lose against a masher youre just horrible.

What if they just spam the same moves over and over, alternating between distance special moves and close up button mashing?

If we're talking street fighter, which i assume we do due to the content. You will be punished if you mash in close range. Distance moves can always be avoided, thus making it possible to slowly close the distance.

If they are spamming moves, that means they can be read like an open book and punished for it.

Zoning and spamming are two different things, by the way. Don't get the two confused.

This is why I hate fighting games

I honestly don't see the point of getting a game, taking a month to memorize every single special combo and move, and then repeatedly dying to a person who simply presses every button at random.

Except the good fighting games don't let that happen.
That's like saying you shouldn't learn advanced builds in starcraft 2 because you always lose to somedud massing one unit.

Ya, but it doesn't have too, nearly every character has a cheap move they can do that usually involves a ranged or surround attack and you can't do a damn thing to stop them while they do it

And they just keep doing it

**** I hate "meat" and his bodyslam

Memorizing moves and knowing the actual mechanics to a game are completely different things.

I can tell you how to execute moves of any character, but it doesn't mean **** if I don't know how to set it up right or when to use it. That's where the difference is skill level occurs.

That why you play good fighting game where it's easy to counter mashers. Like Soul Caliber. If you know what you're doing you can take out a masher easy.

Very entertaining.

And while it may not have a whole bunch of complicated button combos, it can still get complicated as far as the exact details of each character.

What do you think about the marvel vs capcom series? tekken?

Personally I like all 4 of them for different reasons. I like Marvel vs Capcom because of the tag team aspect. I like Mortal Kombat for the violence, as well as the finishing moves. I like Street Fighter because of the amazing combos, and Tekken has some great characters.

He who hesitates is lost. Your opponents will not wait for you to remember you precious button combos.
He who dares, wins. You may be inexperienced, but those who trained solely among the experienced are rarely prepared for the most random of strikes.
And that is why button mashers always win. Either stop bitching and learn how to deal with such a strategy or rage quit like the sore loser you've turned into. For instance, blows that disable or knock over the opponent, or possibly parrying moves, will significantly increase your chances of victory if they're temporarily unable to strike back.
