I can only agree. I've had this problem be for. I took back several games and walked away with maybe $5 a game. It's such a rip off. Especially when you paid $40+ for the game originally.

here is an idea, dont sell them to gamestop. they need to make a profit, so being the greedy assholes they are, they make the most profit they can without caring about fairness. if you wanna get money for old games try to find people to buy them. someone who wants to buy it will pay decent money, likely less than what they could get at gamestop, but still better than what you would get. unless they are dumbasses, charge em $50. but still try finding someone to buy it personaly first

I use to work at GameStop
The company gives you less than half or slim to nothing for what you even paid for.
And will price it more to make a profit. It really is a gross system in my opinion. But hey it like what Rick says "This is a business." lololol

Nope, since the company is so big they don't allow things like that. They don't need the extra sales. Each game has a set price on the system, though i believe being in bad condition will lower that price.

My friend and I bought a game for 50$, we went home, played it for 20 minutes, and decided the game was ****. We decided we'd go back and return it for a refund the next day.

He said we couldn't even refund us, that you can only refund a game that hasn't been opened, this logic only seemed tangible if someone was returning a gift, and it was useless to me. So he told us we could switch it out for another game instead, but everything else sucked and he just wanted his money back.

So he said "can I just turn it in and get my money back?"
He said the best he would be able to do for us is give us $8, and two games under 20$...

We were able to rent games for a week. Then we only could get 20% off. I rented like crazy cause 20% off is nothing.

Yea, I took a video game design class and watched a short video on media business and how it's always booming. GameStop for instance sells their games at $59.99 and the company will get at least more than 50% of the sells while only the publishers of the game roughly get only 27 or 28 dollars. What's also worse that they don't price match anything. Greedy bastards...but yes, it's business.

If they buy a game at $5 they will sell it at $10 or $15. Not all games will sell.

No. That literally doesn't happen. If it happens to you, then the employees at that one store figured out you were stupid enough and just kept the extra cash for themselves.

Hell, most of the stores have a deal on constantly where you trade in two games that are under a year old and get any new game for them.

When i worked at game station (a British version of Game stop) a guy bought bioshock 2 at the day of release, he then came back the next day to trade it in because he didn't like it, we gave him £15 for a game he bought for £42 a day earlier....then we put a £39.99 sticker on it and sold it within the same day. Trade in stores are assholes, if you want to sell your games sell them online, you will get more money for them.

the guy sounds like a dumbass if you ask me.. not only is it common sense to NOT sell something that is worth £42 for £15 in the shops. even if you dont have internet to sell on ebay any person on the street would be willing to buy it for £30 easy.

other than that, he lost a receipt the next day and only dumbasses do that...

In game station you could return it for the equal price of what you bought it in store credit if you had the receipt, so he would get back that £42 to spend on games again...but by throwing away the receipt he screwed himself.

As a Gamestop employee, nothing pisses me off more than people who think that I set the prices for trade ins. I scan the game's barcode, and the computer tells me what you get. I have no control over the price, and if I change it, I get fired.

Get mad at the company, not the employees.

I work at Gamestop, it's really not as awful as everyone thinks, say you bought a game, it's an awful game, you have 7 days to return that game if it's from the pre-owned section.
We don't make enough money to give you full price back for the games, we'd be out of business. We do sometimes give you good deals, and also if you use it towards a game or a console, it takes off some money for what you really want.
I dunno, I love working there, and I know a dollar for a game sucks, but we're just trying to stay open. :/
Where else would you rather go, Walmart?

It's just Walmart will sell it to you for the same price as a new game from Gamestop, but they don't take back the games you opened and give you money back for it >.<
I'm just saying is all.
I don't know about your small town game stores to argue with that point.

Dollar a game? Wow you're countrys gamestop sucks. I go to a finnish gamestop and i can get up to 20€ for a game, of course for 20€ it need to be brand new. But let's say i could get about 5€ for lets say borderlands 2(xbox360) or some other game that is new but not brand new. I think the prices are fair. I never get under 2€ for a game that is not older than 2 years.
