less than 1% of the American population is an olympic athlete.
its a nonsensical argument
User avatar #18 to #11 - smokedmeatlog (01/15/2013) [-]
Yeah its kind of funny how everyone says America is fat yet we destroy on the Olympics. They're basically saying they get beaten by a bunch of fat-asses.
User avatar #33 to #18 - Faz (01/16/2013) [-]
America does so good at the Olympics because of all the black people who due to slavery were bred to be as strong as possible. Also athletes who train all the time have nothing to do with the general public, their achievements are not your achievements. Just because there are some elites in your country doesn't stop the fact the majority of your population is overweight which is a fact. Now don't get upset, im not insulting your country (which even if i was still isn't something to get upset by) im just stating that your reasonings are wrong.
User avatar #56 to #33 - smokedmeatlog (01/16/2013) [-]
A very large number of Americans are athletes (like myself) and if the olympians represent my country in the Olympics, they should be allowed to in other situations that deals with them (and yes it does deal with them because they are too calculated in the average weight). Also, if they are excluded from the argument, then I should be, too because im not near overweight nor are any of my friends and most of the people i socialize with on a daily bases.
User avatar #57 to #56 - Faz (01/16/2013) [-]
Its not a very large number of Americans which are athletes, it may be a large number in comparison to smaller groups but in comparison to over weight people its tiny, that is why America is said to be fat, because the majority are. The fact that you and your friends are underweight mean nothing, you are taking from a small sample, taking from small samples will nearly never give the results of the overall.
User avatar #39 to #33 - winsauceiswin (01/16/2013) [-]
i wonder why they refuse to leave america then?
User avatar #40 to #39 - Faz (01/16/2013) [-]
I have no idea to what part of my statement you were replying to.
User avatar #44 to #40 - winsauceiswin (01/16/2013) [-]
you're saying that the us does well at the Olympics because of black people brought over for slavery right? so are you saying they aren't americans simply because they're black?
User avatar #46 to #44 - Faz (01/16/2013) [-]
I didn't say that at all and i have no idea how you came to the conclusion that i said that. I merely said that the black people in your country do so well at the Olympics because due to slavery they were bred to be super humans, i never once said they aren't American.
User avatar #47 to #46 - winsauceiswin (01/16/2013) [-]
so it's because they were bred to be that way? you're sounding pretty racist dude. it isn't their years of training, dedication, dieting, motivation, perseverance, conviction, and will that they do well. no, it's because they were bred as slaves...
User avatar #48 to #47 - Faz (01/16/2013) [-]
Its not racism im stating the truth, the strongest slaves were bred together producing stronger offspring, its a simple science which has been used for hundreds if not thousands of years and its the reason why a grand national winning horses sperm costs so much, in the DNA of that horse is strength and speed. If you cannot grasp that strong being bred with the strong creates a stronger offspring then you need to go back and learn elementary science. Yes the athletes train incredibly hard but just simply being born a black American with an athletic build you have the advantage of genetics on your side.
User avatar #49 to #48 - winsauceiswin (01/16/2013) [-]
it's more than genetics and you should recall that slaves were not given anything beyond minimal living standards. most died of cold weather, disease, starvation, or over working. very seldom if not ever were slaves "bred" for their strength and even if they were that stopped nearly 200 years ago any "breeding" would be pointless after at least 2 generations. furthermore with population increase, interracial marriage, and dietary changes genetics would NEVER be enough for a 2012 Olympian. you're point is ignorant and ill supported and diminishes the honor of every united states African American Olympian.

i'm done with this conversation
User avatar #50 to #49 - Faz (01/16/2013) [-]
You literally know nothing don't you, its widely accepted that black Americans have genetic strength, just because you disagree with it does not make it wrong. Also breeding is pointless after 2 generations? Please show me proof of this total ******** you've just made up. You are an idiot, that was clear to see after you were incapable of reading my first comment, coming to the conclusion i was saying black people weren't American? and then with my second you said it was racism....Then you have the audacity to say im the ignorant one in your final comment? Yes me, the man using scientific reasoning is the ignorant one....You see i have no racism in me, no prejudice, no hate but simply facts, i state how things are, i state just simple findings. Nothing more.
User avatar #51 to #50 - winsauceiswin (01/16/2013) [-]
you're "scientific" reasoning has yet to be supported by empirical evidence. is that not something required to make something scientific fact? by your own logic we're both idiots for neither of us have provided any evidence aside from our incessant and pointless babbling.
User avatar #52 to #51 - Faz (01/16/2013) [-]
My scientific evidence comes from the hundreds of years of Farmers focusing on breeding the cows which produce the most milk, the race horse owners breeding the fastest, the dog breeders breeding the biggest. My scientific evidence is shown every time anything is bred for a specific talent/advantage.
User avatar #53 to #52 - winsauceiswin (01/16/2013) [-]
yes but you are not focusing on history my friend. while i do not dispute that breeding produces offspring with similar characteristics as their predecessors; i'm merely stating that did not occur as often as you, for some reason, believe it did with slaves and that you cannot attribute a black Olympian's achievement to simply genetics nor can you say it gives them the upper hand to an extent that they may coast in to the Olympics and win a gold medal based solely on that merit.
User avatar #54 to #53 - Faz (01/16/2013) [-]
The breeding of slaves for strength happened all the time, its not talked about in school for obvious reasons but it happened a hell of a lot and again you are reading things i didn't even write, i've not once said black Americans can coast in the Olympics, they work just as hard as other athletes but their genetics are what make it so that they dominate, white athletes work just as hard as black athletes but black athletes still win? Why is that? Well...its pretty obvious knowing about the breeding but even not knowing that you know they have some advantage.
User avatar #55 to #54 - winsauceiswin (01/16/2013) [-]
we'll agree to disagree then.
#59 to #18 - gliese (01/17/2013) [-]
umm americans who have trained for their respective events win. Not the fat asses sitting at home watching TV.
less than 1% of americans are olympic athletes
User avatar #60 to #59 - smokedmeatlog (01/17/2013) [-]
They still represent our country. The majority of the country is not obese yet you stereotype us all as them. Yes more people are obese than Olympians but more people are fit than obese.
#61 to #60 - gliese (01/17/2013) [-]
i never said i think everyone in america is fat, you just did yourself. Im saying no we do not get beat by a bunch of fatasses, we get beat by olympic quality athletes.

they just have a habit of making a ******* song and dance about it.
User avatar #19 to #14 - smokedmeatlog (01/15/2013) [-]
Im not entirely certain about this dance you speak of but Francis Scott Key created The Star-Spangled Banner when we won the bombardment of Fort McHenry during the American Revolution. All of our other freedom-based songs were made because we were the land that all immigrants came to in their time of need (not saying we were completely open arms to all of them) and when we had a country that focused on the people.

we have less then 20% of the world's population

we have more than quarter of the world's prison poplulation, as in if you added up the prisoners from each country, including china and north korera, more than a quarter are american

biggest country or not, thats not ok
