I must be a timetraveller, because i already knew this from somewhere. **** me, right

I read that this happened so that we would not feel as much pain, if we fall on something sharp, and start bleeding, but this is also pretty legit

isnt it just the water in your finger taking the path of least resistance
#101 to #26 - sometimeswefuck (01/15/2013) [-]
no, it was found that the water doesnt simply diffuse through the skin making it all wrinkly.
its actually neurological response from your body allowing the water flow in.

in some subjects they cut a specific nerve and submerged their hand into the water. they found it did not get wrinkly
User avatar #181 to #101 - cheesymuffins (01/15/2013) [-]
The subjects were monkeys. I'm pretty sure I either heard about that study here, or via Mythbusters twitter feed.

That isn't the only one. The actually filming of the giant squid was taken weeks ago. Discovery channel is going to have a special featuring the footage on the 27th, and NHK is featuring the film on Wednesday.

This article is from early December.

Wat?
New study?
for long time people know that fingers and toes get wrinkly in water to help us grip objects.
User avatar #5 to #3 - datargumme (01/14/2013) [-]
There is a diffrence in the reliability in intuicious knowledge and knowledge gained through long studies.
User avatar #14 to #5 - rainbowisbestpone (01/14/2013) [-]
i mean that that scientist earlier came to that conclusion
User avatar #20 to #14 - Faz (01/14/2013) [-]
If they did then why has it been brought to light in recent news? Im not saying you are wrong im just questioning to why it would be made a big deal if its something thats already been scientifically proven.
User avatar #23 to #20 - mrpootkins (01/14/2013) [-]
It has probably been a while since any kind of study, maybe they did do another, but now with the ability to share knowledge via the internet, their published results are news and helps to spread the knowledge to those who may not have known this to be fact.

about that biggest structure, my physics professor said that todays physics is not advanced enough to explain its existance / that such a structure would be impossible to exist under the current state of physics knowledge. fruit salad is a healthy snack.

Ok
Is this a couple years old because the finger and toe thing has been known for a long time
They used to do that when we would say climb rocks for more friction and a better grip so we wouldnt fall off
