Shhh, let the children be ignorant to the true story...

In all seriousness, though, Disney dumbs down everything they base a story on. A lot of their movies are based on works that are horryfying.

Yep, and at the end of the original Little Mermaid story, she dies because the prince marries someone else.

She doesnt die per say. She turns into seafoam and some ****, because mermaids dont have souls. Thats probably why she has red hair

Not to mention Pocahontas, a story that's (supposed to be) based on a true story, where the true story is more Pocahontas was 12 years old and the captain was an old man, and was more of a rapish kidnapping than a tale of two lovers from different lands.

i think in mythology, Hera cast some witchcrafty spell which sends him mad, so he kills his wife and his child. She does this because she finds out that Zeus had an affair with a mortal and created him, so she wants vengeance. hercules persecutes himself as he feels extremely guilty for killing them, so therefore undertakes the trails as a kind of retribution.

please correct me if I'm wrong :)

have a nice day.

No that sounds right. Never did figure out why Hera didn't just punish Zeus rather than punishing those he sired (Herakles) or had affairs with (Io, poor Io)

*Fit of insanity brought on as punishment from Hera for being born.

He then later remarried a women who was tricked into poisioning him with centaur blood
Then became a god and marreid Hebe, the goddess of youth

It's Disney. When Cinderella lost her shoe and the prince was looking for her the girls in the town started cutting their feet so it would fit.

Well, in that actual little mermaid story, Ariel get's rejected and melts into sea foam...

Disney likes to take adult stories and tone them way the **** down. not a bad thing though.

He then remarried twice, one to a woman who was tricked into poisioning him with Centaur blood the other was when he became a god and was given Hebe, the goddess of youth as a trophy wife.

i did some fact checking, and i admit you were right. in most stories it is told that Hera drove him to insanity. but a handful also state he was just being a brute. i wasn't there. i don't know. his wife could have just had a really annoying laugh and he snapped after a long day's work. we'll never know.

In his defense, they were actively trying to kill him. Also, he felt really super bad about it afterwards.

Well I actually disagree. Since Mulan is based Hua Mulan, which many speculate was set in the Northern Wei dynasty.

During this time, as in Roman times, homosexuality was prevalent and was not regarded as morally deviant prior to the influence of foreign cultures. It has also been argued that writings in early china portrayed homosexual relationships between men as more enjoyable and more "harmonious" than heterosexual relationships

Soo, homosexuality probably wouldn't have been a barrier.

But then again, with the remake of Mulan by people in our time, his reactions would be similar to the writer's.

Soo, yes it would be funny.
