Unrelated question.
I've just got a S3 and it keeps shutting of on a smallest impact, like, I drop it from 2 centimeters on a table and it shuts off, it even shuts off when I tap it.
I used to have this on my HTC EVO 3D but I somehow turned it off.

If you really don't want to get it properly repaired, pull it apart completely, then put it back together.
If that doesn't work go and buy a Nexus.

That's not supposed to happen at all. It was most likely just luck that it worked properly again.

It happened to EVERY Android with the proximity sensor that I've owned.

Check the battery compartment, something could be loose.
