My dad's a former gym teacher. Years back, he had all the kids sitting on the floor while he explained something, and a fat kid was lying down instead of sitting. His immediate response,

"Hey! Get up, before someone harpoons you!"

I see, it's okay to make fat jokes. If the teacher had made race jokes he would have been fired immediately.

Race cannot.

I know you're joking, but i just wanted to say that michael jackson in fact did not choose to lose skin pigment.

He had a pretty rare skin disease, which caused his skin to lose it's pigment.

Fine enough, I am overweight some 35 pounds, can't say I'm a beautiful master size, I just always think it's funny how people always say stuff like that. If I were a smoker I'd think twice of smoking in public, but since I'm fat I can't really just pull the fat off me for a day.
User avatar #123 to #122 - JoshBauer (01/13/2013) [-]
Alright well not trying to be a jerk but doesn't it kind of bother you that you aren't too physically fit? I mean, I sit on the computer pretty much all day every day, but I still find some way to exercise, mostly in school.
User avatar #124 to #123 - ddemiddon (01/13/2013) [-]
Well I've got a bum leg so I can't really run, but it did bother me once, but I just don't care anymore. I like to eat, and I don't like to exercise. Sure I'm a fat bastard, but I've been told that I feel like a giant teddy bear and I'm comfortable with that. Plus I'm really tall so I fill out pretty easily, anyway my point is that I don't care. If I turn into a walking whale like at WalMart I'll exercise, but as of right now I'm okay.
User avatar #125 to #124 - JoshBauer (01/13/2013) [-]
Fair enough. It's obese people with fat rolls hanging out from under their shirt that bother me, not heavy-set people.

The super religious girl got emotional over the fact that the teach didn't get angry when a student called him a cold hearted bastard.

So emotional, she ran to the dean and started crying to him, which almost got the teacher fired, despite the fact that he never used the word himself.

We need more people like this. Kids are growing up and becoming thin-skinned bitches because they've been protected from all criticism their entire lives. They are unprepared for the real world.

#25 to #21 - anon (01/12/2013) [-]
The teacher made fun of a kid's negative disposition. He could have said if his dog ate it or something but that is kind of offensive. Is it okay because he's fat? If he had said to a black kid if he had stolen the homework all hell would have broken loose.
User avatar #34 to #25 - durkadurka ONLINE (01/12/2013) [-]

Get over yourself. It's because of people like you that children can't take jokes.

In life you will routinely encounter things that are offensive and that you don't like. It's people like you who who have perpetrated this lie that we all have the right to never ever be offended. So what if the kid is offended? Maybe he'll drop the cake and do some pushups.

Because your rights end where mine begin. You can do all the negative **** you want to your body, but the moment you forcefully harm mine, all hell breaks loose.

That's not to say that obesity is okay. It is a pretty big problem for all those involved, but the guy overeating next to me doesn't make me fatter.
User avatar #112 to #71 - JoshBauer (01/13/2013) [-]
Well all I'm saying is the chance of getting lung cancer from second hand smoke is extremely low. You'd have to be hanging around someone who smokes 24/7. I feel that most people dislike smokers because they're "ignorant" and "don't care about their health." By those rules, obesity should be looked down upon also. I've heard heavy people call smokers disgusting in public. What's wrong with that picture?
User avatar #117 to #112 - thepalmtoptiger (01/13/2013) [-]
Seeing as my friend DOES smoke 24/7, and I already have a predisposition for certain types of cancer (I come home smelling like a bowling alley in the 90s every day,) my chances of getting cancer is raised. I don't like that he smokes around me, but I don't necessarily care. I'm not one of those obnoxious people who exaggerates their cough when someone smokes near me.

Both, morbid obesity and smoking are terrible things which can be fatal for the people who engage in it. But again, while an obese person who can hide their pens and pencils in their rolls is an eyesore, they aren't potentially harmful. Smoking in public is an attack on all the senses, and the health of people around you, particularly children.

The teacher needs a raise
User avatar #37 - vanoreo (01/12/2013) [-]
Okay, you can't compare being a fat **** to a race.

You can't judge someone for their race; they have no control over it.

You can judge people for being fat, it is a health choice (exceptions may be some very serious glandular problems, but they can still somewhat control that)

Frankly I just hate fat people.

INB4 a ******** of red thumbs.

........heh....i used to be called fat, got older, slimmed, then the whores and sluts questioned my sexuality..................whut.....at least half of the people who called me names are now pregnant.......justice......
#93 to #37 - tyraxio (01/12/2013) [-]
Very few people (lol, probably none in the western world) CHOOSE to be fat. It's mainly a combination of bad diet from childhood (which is certainly not their fault) and them succumbing to the propaganda of fast food adverts. It's terribly sad, and that people should be judged only makes their lives even bleaker. Being made fun of, having low self-esteem and bad health at the same time is certainly not a nice cocktail, is it now? Stop justifying your laughing at fat people.

Funny thing, so do I. I don't like being fat, so I'm working to get over it. Technically, I've gained weight but lost fat since I started eating healthier and working out more (all dat muscle mass) but it is something you can control. I hate fat people that use it as an excuse.
#41 to #37 - wanicochil (01/12/2013) [-]
How fat is fat to you?

I'm chubby, some people would consider me fat, yet I am as fast/healthy as skinny kids that go out drink and smoke every day and can barely run 20 meters without running out of breath

Hating fat people is a horrible, cause there can be fat people that are fat for their profession, or bulky, aka sumo wrestlers, or rugby players etc etc

Or they are happy with being chubby/fat and live their life successfully as any skinny person would, do you hate them as well?

I don't understand how some one can have such a general thought of "I hate fat people"
User avatar #43 to #41 - vanoreo (01/12/2013) [-]
If you look like you eat a Big Mac for every meal; you deserve no respect.
User avatar #44 to #43 - wanicochil (01/12/2013) [-]

You hate the obese people that do nothing but make their problem worse/do nothing about it

Doesn't mean I lead an unhealthy lifestyle/deserve to be hated

Go on youtube and look at Jesse Cox or TotalBuscuit, they are both chubby/fat

They are very successful youtubers and have fulfilling lives, and they deserve to be hated because they are fat?

Your logic is whooshing right past my head

Talking about the choice thing yeah my cousin has glandular problem but he isn't terribly fat maybe 180 and he's pretty tall he exercises alot to combat it but he's still 180 where as his little brother also has the glandular problem but not as serious as him yet his little brother is very overweight maybe 180- 190 when hes only 11 because he doesnt do very much to combat it. The doctor told my cousin that without the glandular problem he would be 110-120 , so yeah the glandular problem hurts alot.

Am I the only one that is opposed to this?
I mean if he is fat, he is probably going to be bullied by kids as well, and if a mature adult teacher, some one a student is meant to be feel safe, protected around also calls him fat, then that kid is going to be seriously mentally scared and either binge eat to cure depression, go into depression, or bottle his/her emotion up and eventually consume him
Teachers need to know right and wrong way to joke with students, that was a remark with the intention of harming the child, and no way playful/teasing

If you can't have some fun with yourself, then why are you alive? People make guy jokes, girl jokes, skinny jokes, black jokes, white jokes, and other stereotypical jokes all the time. Most people just deal with it, but no, not fat people. Fat people always get bent out of shape and put bullets through their blubber.
User avatar #130 to #129 - wanicochil (01/13/2013) [-]
Even the hardest of people can be broken down through constant mental torture of bullying, not everyone is tip top mental dandy state that can brush off words so very easily

And fat people can't take joke? Ok let's go make a joke about woman rights to a feminist, or say ****** to a black guys face, or go suck a dick faggot to a gay guy, and I know many anorexic girls who get highly offended when people make jokes/statements about how skinny they are

Most people don't deal with it, it's called having compassion and human decency not to bully people about their shortcomings, if an employee said this to a customer, or a eomployer said it to an employee, they would get sacked/sue'd the **** out of

So in reality, most people DO NOT deal with it
User avatar #132 to #130 - brettyoke (01/13/2013) [-]
Nobody said suck a dick, nobody said ****** , nobody made some out-of-line women's right joke. The teacher said, "did you eat your homework?" which is a common joke throughout past time for people everywhere. He didn't say "I bet you ate it you fat **** ." Don't blow what actually happened out of proportion to your "bullying standards."
User avatar #133 to #132 - wanicochil (01/13/2013) [-]
If it was a non overweight student the teacher would never of said "Did you eat your homework", the teacher was clearly poking fun at him being overweight

I have never heard a teacher say "Did you eat your homework" In any of my classes, ever because it is inappropriate

Each example I used it poking fun at some one, one way or another, which is what this teacher did, poke fun at his overweight, so no it is not blowing out of proportion, you just clearly have no human compassion
User avatar #134 to #133 - brettyoke (01/13/2013) [-]
Going up to somebody and calling them a ****** is not a joke. Nor is it funny. Nor is it poking around. Asking a comedic question such as "did you eat your homework" is indeed a joke. Get over yourself you uptight prick.
