Clock faces use IIII instead of IV for several reasons, one of which is that King Louis XIV preferred IIII to IV and ordered all of his clocks created as such.

how bout for that, you have an arm in a track around the inside circumference of the watch head. that arm had a string attached to it that connects to the minute hand, which is stretchy, this way, the minute hand stretches out in the melted parts of the watch
