Yeah, except for a few things:
1. That's strictly for large corporations and banks, meaning average people wouldn't use that kind of currency
2. Zimbabwe doesn't even use it's own currency anymore
3. When it did, like in 2007, it was so inflated that 100 million Zimbabwe dollars equaled perhaps about 12 USD. Not 12 million, or 12 thousand, but 12. ******* . dollars.

They could, but then people would be more likely to purchase without weighing the consequences.

People who use credit cards are more likely to purchase items which means that they are less able to conceptualize what it means to buy stuff.

Only the smart people now a days carry cash. If they didn't make it to where you can write a tip onto a receipt i would have a single friend who tips. everyone believes cards are safe than cash in case their wallet gets stolen. I'm a cash and carry guy though. I don't like having to check a bank account to know how much money is in my pocket.

My wallet would be filled with 69 dollar bills. And that is it.

You go to the store, and you've got a 69 dollar bill in your pocket.

And it turns out when you got the thing, the price was not $69, but $69.01

What would you do?

It's not Obama's idea, or anyone's who is serious. It's only been floated around as a commentary on how ridiculous the way our money/economy works (or doesn't work, i guess).

At least learn something before you have someone kill you for no reason

It's not just a commentary, it was legitimately considered by Ben Bernanke. Keynesian economics at its best I suppose

What if, we created a paper bill, or perhaps some sort of coin, that was worth 1/100th of one dollar?

Penny?
User avatar #116 to #78 - elcreepo (01/12/2013) [-]
Sounds like a gay name for it, but okay, we'll call it "Penny" which exists in some wacko universe.

I was hoping we could call it Jack.

The Japanese at one point had a 1/1000th of a yen coin or some other at one point.
Keep in mind one yen is one cent.
