Recently I got an iPhone and it's only increased my hatred towards apple products.

I didn't ask for the phone, I sort of just got it for Christmas, and because of the contract you know... It's such a stupid device, and I hate how I need to have an itunes account to do anything with it. my old phone was so much better, anything I needed I did through my computer and an SD card exactly the way I wanted it to be done, not from my computer through itunes through my phone. bleh.

prepared for red thumbs.

There's no point in updating it. I never use itunes except to put my pirated music onto my ipod. and that doesn't require an internet connection.
						******* Apple sucks dick anyway.

Guys... I have a favor to ask of all caring FJers.... It's about downloading music... I know most of you stopped reading right there..But I am going to school for music and I have learned the error of my ways... I have downloaded music before but the truth is..It really hurts the people creating the music... All I ask is after you download some stuff, if you really like it buy it from the artist... At least as a thank you for making something you love.
They say a musician without a girlfriend is just called homeless...

TL:DR I may not have faith in most of humanity..but a lot of people on here give me hope. Be cool FJ

I always buy from small artists, ones that are less known. I think that's the way to go, I'm not going to buy from huge bands, as they make more money from tours than the records either way. I understand your plea, and I assure you that I'll buy from artists that are starting up. However, I'm not going to add a few extra bucks towards some huge band's fifth yacht.
User avatar #88 to #84 - cloudstrifeownsall (01/10/2013) [-]
Thanks man... I know it probably won't make much of a difference... and there is no way to even know if I even made anybody think.. but you never know... You are really cool
User avatar #91 to #88 - klaes (01/10/2013) [-]
Yeah, I've got a lot of friends in the music industry(small bands/groups) and I'm well aware of how much of a struggle it is. If you ever make it big in any way, shape or form, be sure to inform your fellow FJers ;D

It would be nice to see someone on this site accomplish something for once.
User avatar #92 to #91 - cloudstrifeownsall (01/10/2013) [-]
lol.. definitely will do... It's discouraging sometimes but I can't give up or it will never happen. Anyway... I'm headed to sleep now, got music theory, guitar lessons, and "The Business of Songwriting" classes tomorrow. Take care

Out of all the music i have i've only bought the albums from one artist and that was because it couldn't find it on pirate sites and because it sounded so good that i wanted it in high quality not cheap.

Never bought music once in my life. You mad?
User avatar #62 to #58 - cloudstrifeownsall (01/10/2013) [-]
not really... I have downloaded plenty of music also... But I will buy from now on if I enjoy an artist because I know how it feels to do your best and not have anything to show for it
#51 to #50 - disturbedmaster (01/10/2013) [-]
how does it hurt the artist their making thousands if not millions off it
User avatar #56 to #51 - traycepickering (01/10/2013) [-]
It hurts the little guys. The bands playing in bars trying to make it big.
#59 to #56 - disturbedmaster (01/10/2013) [-]
if there little and only play local and have no hard media ie cds it would be hard to pirate with out recording it and getting tons of interfearance and reduced quality
User avatar #70 to #59 - sagedivinity (01/10/2013) [-]
That's not true at all, anyone can buy half decent equipment today and it will do them fine. Also look at underground artists some of these guys have to work two jobs and hold down a musical career at the same time the very least you could do is spend a couple of dollars on some songs especially of you love them,

Not telling what to do, but this is how I feel.
User avatar #53 to #51 - cloudstrifeownsall (01/10/2013) [-]
Not really... Unless its pop or like metallica or something... Most artist just make enough to live...
#54 to #53 - disturbedmaster (01/10/2013) [-]
it only hurts em if its a indie band but the most pirated music is ether made by dead people or big name bands
User avatar #55 to #54 - cloudstrifeownsall (01/10/2013) [-]
The big names I don't care about... They are set for money and even if they didn't sell anything else their touring could probably be more than enough for the rest of their life... I'm just meaning bands that are known but not superstars...I'm going into the post ******** genre and even the bigger names don't make a lot in that style... but anyway.. The superstars won't matter if their stuff gets pirated..just help out the little guys sometimes if you get the chance...that's all I'm saying

The majority of us Indie musicians don't make **** .

Pirating music is what brought about this **** music today. Because labels weren't bringing in as hefty profits, and so they started using studios less. Studios have gone way up in price now, and instead of using them a lot of the big name bands literally use GarageBand (One Direction, Justin Beiber) Or they buy their "beats" from other people (Jaywan Inc. Etc.)

Save the music! Don't buy theirs!

thats why i pirate big names and buy indie

if there a little guy its mostlikly that they have no contract record it them selves in a rented studio. have no mas marketing and only distribute localy and probly dont have much of a non local outing other than streaming music or pirating
User avatar #60 to #57 - cloudstrifeownsall (01/10/2013) [-]
actually...Most bands try to go for record deals and end up having to give all of the money they earn to the label to cover distribution and travel and such.... I'm really not being condescending or anything... I just didn't really fully know what it was like until I learned about it... it sucks scraping for change.. I know most people have it hard too..I'm just saying if you have the extra to spare it would be generous of you instead of taking it for free
#64 to #60 - disturbedmaster (01/10/2013) [-]
you do know you have to prove that your worth a record deal first and cant just sign one, and trust me i know what its like i co-preduce albums from my local churchs band

Well, now I have to watch the trilogy again. I've felt like that ever since I went to see The Hobbit recently, and I get reminded every time I see a LOTR gif or any other reference :3

Don't, for the love of god, make the same mistake I did. It took me 3 hours to figure out how to get music on my ipod. 3 HOURS.
