Don't break character

Leonardo Disap trio cut his hand while the cameras were realing
on the set of Django Unchained and kept moving through the
scene, never breaking character, and his 1: bloodied hand
made it into the final version of the film, During ene take of that
scene, Disap trio slammed his hand into glass,
creating a gash that later: required stitches. But that didn' t stop
him from doing his jeh. As his hand bled quite visibly, Disap trio
kept going, even using the hand as a new dramatic prep. At one
point he smears his bloodied hand ever ' s face in an
act of evil dominance, And (Kerry Washington) looks
horrified as he does it, (Perhaps Washington wasn' t acting!) And
that was the take that directer Quentin Tarantino kept in the
this man really? wants his goddamn Oscar

Orlando Bloom fell of a horse and Gimli's scale double fell on him.
Gimli's scale double dislocated his knee, reason unknown.
Viggo Mortensen broke his toe kicking an Uruk-Hai head [which is left in the movie].

There's a scene where they're running together, all injured.

After viggo kicked the decapitated head, didn't he fall down on his knees and scream out of frustration and sorrow over merry and pippin when they thought they were dead? if that is when he broke his toe, i can bet he was screaming for his toe and not the hobbits. but he kept character and it was badass so they kept it. however i could be thinking of a totally different head kicking scenario and it turns out that i'm dumb.

I think the true story goes along the lines of:

Acting this scene after three or four takes, the Viggo or the director didn't think the direction of the kick was quite right. Also the scream wasn't as dramatic to begin with. On the final version Viggo just kicked it as hard as he could so that the head rolled straight past the camera. Obviously he broke his toe, I think he said he "channelled" the pain into the scream for the hobbits. The director thought the kick was good and the scream was surprising. Then Viggo says "I think I broke my toe in that take".

Viggo also broke a tooth - and wanted to ******* SUPERGLUE IT BACK ON.

They didn't let him, though.

He also had a certain way of greeting people by headbutting them on the set, that Elijah Wood described as "spontaneous violent love".

Another similar story/fun fact; Viggo Mortensen (the actor of Aragorn in LOTR) had a scene in the two towers where he kicked a helmet. Peter Jackson was not pleased with the shot the few first shots, so they had to film it a few times. The last shot they did, Viggo Mortensen broke 2 of his toes kicking the helmet, and he screams incredibly high and falls down on his knees. He took advantage of the pain he felt and transformed it into an act. That moment is actually used in the movie.

Also in FOTR when the Uruk chief throws the knife at him he was suppose to hit the tree by viggo, but he missed at him and Viggo actually blocked him

love the movie and hate how people are reacting too negatively over the use of ****** and the slave context. That may literally be the only reason why this movie may not win awards that i feel it is deserving of.
#53 to #22 - anon (01/09/2013) [-]
They do have some point, there were a few scenes where ****** could have been said at least ten times less and nobody would have noticed. Besides overusing a word just makes is seem like lazy writing. (Don't kill me I loved the movie.)
User avatar #119 to #22 - lambocj (01/09/2013) [-]
Although I do not like the word, i expected it when I went to go see it. I mean I thought it was obvious that word was going to be used a lot just by watching the trailer. Anyway like I said, I expected it so it didnt bother me too much.

The Movie industry are idiots. The Walking Dead boxset is in my local DVD shop and it's rated 12. Mrs Brown's Boys (In case you don't know, its an Irish Sitcom,) is rated 18, and all that happens is the main character swears. That's it. It's weird.
User avatar #42 to #27 - makedonski (01/09/2013) [-]
They're not idiots, the ratings are just dictated by how much the producer pours into the rating company.

During the filming of Two Towers he kicked an Urukai helmet in anger (thought merry and pippin had been killed) then broke his toe.

Also, Orlando Bloom broke his ribs when his Size/Stunt double fell on him.

In The Two Towers, he broke his foot kicking an Uruk-Hai helmet. The cry of anger he gives in that scene is actually a cry of agony.

He also had a real knife accidentally thrown at him in one scene (fortunately, he deflected it with his sword), and almost drowned due to the weight of his equipment.
User avatar #14 to #5 - sgtwilliam ONLINE (01/09/2013) [-]
He broke his toe, not the entire foot.

Trying not to sound like an ass.
#17 to #14 - taurusguy ONLINE (01/09/2013) [-]
Yeah, it was just a toe, imagine breaking your whole foot on something that small. (besides he didnt break because of the helmet, it broke because he hit the ground with hit) Such great actors, dont panic when they have to improvise...

The scene where Ian McKellen (Gandalf) bumps his head into the roof of Bag End was also an accident, and not in the script. Peter Jackson kept it anyways.

It was bugging the **** out of me. Thanks OP

Will Smith was considered for the role of Django and the part was made specifically for him but he turned it down. Although I like him as an actor, I feel Jamie Foxx pulled it off better.
