You now realize Japanese make gawk-ass attempts at English names like we do Japanese.

Example: Make up a Japanese name for yourself

Mine example: Kikaru Matashi ( ******** )

>yfw Japan's version: Ash Ketchum, Brock, Misty (Close), Goku, Vegeta, Frieza, Gohan, Oak, Yugioh, Kiba, Joey (Good)

They think those are English names. I always thought that was kind of cool.

Except those either are actually Japanese names, or not the characters' names in Japan, or puns.

Ash: Satoshi
Brock: Takeshi
Misty: Kasumi
Goku: Japanese
Vegeta: Vegetable
Frieza: Freezer
Gohan: Japanese
Oak: Okido
Yugioh: It means "King of Games"
Kaiba: Japanese for Baby Dragon
Joey: Junoichi in Japan

pisses me off anyway that they **** up the names that badly.

I'm rewatching Digimon atm and the English/Germans just really messed the names up. And I was just all like what the **** ?

but Ash, Brock and Misty are all english names.

Saw a japanese film a while back where the main characters names were "white" and "black" was meant to be a cool easter egg for people who know a bit of english.

don't a lot of japanese people know english?
User avatar #26 to #13 - mion (01/08/2013) [-]
Almost everyone knows English, tbh.

Though most of the Japanese I know (and I don't know much, really. Like 5 or 6) speak it really weird due to their Kanasystem.

(Water's turned into Wôtelu/Wôteru, e.g.)
