In the LOTR books it identifies what they're smoking as Middle Earth's variant of tobacco.

The animation movie is even better than the new movie.
I don't know if it was because my expectations were too high or just because it was one boring movie, with all those stuff they made up just to fill the 3 hours, it's just total crap compared to the book.
They shouldn't have split the movie up in 3 parts, just one descent.

I loved the book, you had a real connection with Bilbo that you don't have in the movie,
in some parts he was even a background character, while in the book you were
reading trough his point of view.

And also I had a feeling that it was more a movie to show of with their visual effects
etc. than making a good movie.
The only good thing about the movie is the
soundtrack. The only oscar they should get, if they'll get one.
I hope Peter Jackson can still save the trilogy with the next two movies.

Hmm, personally I really enjoyed the new plot bits they added. Otherwise, even just one movie would be pretty sparse in happenings, and it sort of kept me guessing a little bit. Otherwise (having read the book as much as I have) I'd have just sat through it all knowing exactly what was going to happen.

My only issues were that characters inflected quotes differently to how I imagined, and the actor who played Bilbo didn't quite make him as much as a toff to how I envisaged it.

That's just me, though, obviously
